Many people may not have heard of this province, but they know the name of the city more. In fact, Nagoya is a large city in Aichi Prefecture.
🏮 The Iwakura Sakura Festival is a cherry blossom festival held every year from late March to early April in Iwakura City in Aichi Prefecture. The highlight is the 1,300 cherry trees lined up along both sides of the Gojo River for a distance of 7.6 kilometers.

Gojo River Iwakura (Cherry Blossom Festival)🌸
The Gojo River is a grade A river that flows through Oguchi-cho, Konan City, and Iwakura City in western Aichi Prefecture. It originates from Tajimi City in Gifu Prefecture.
The Iwakura Cherry Blossom Festival is held during cherry blossom season. The cherry trees converging on both sides of the river are a beautiful sight, and the river has been selected as one of the "Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan".
In addition, there are important events during the Iwakura Cherry Blossom Festival, such as the parade of floats
and the performance of "Nonbori Arai", where the glue used to make the patterns of carp streamers is washed away in the river, making the place crowded with people. When the cherry blossoms fall, the surface of the river is covered with petals, and the sight of these petals slowly floating is amazing.
🚃Access
Take the Meitetsu Nagoya Station Line and get off at Iwakura Station. Walk for 6 minutes.

Aichi Prefecture, famous cherry blossom spot: Gojo River, Iwakura City
Gojo River in Iwakura, a famous cherry blossom spot on the outskirts of Aichi Prefecture
It's a little far from Nagoya, but it's a popular spot for cherry blossoms,
and recommended for a drive.
The combination with the rape blossoms was also beautiful.
It gets crowded on weekends, so I went on a weekday,
but it's empty on weekdays, so I recommend it.

Cherry blossoms along Gojo River, Iwakura City, Aichi Prefecture
Cherry blossom trees line the Gojo River in Iwakura City, Aichi Prefecture.
I went there for the first time in the spring during the COVID-19 pandemic,
and the cherry blossoms blooming along the river were very beautiful.
Before COVID-19, there were food stalls lined up along the river,
but personally I'm glad I went when there were no food stalls.

🌸Gojo River Cherry Blossom Season|A Small Cherry Blossom Viewing Spot
#Nagoya Sakura
The Gojo River is a small river in northern Aichi Prefecture, 37 kilometers long, flowing through Iwakura City.
There are more than 1,400 cherry trees planted on both sides of the river. When they are in full bloom in early April, it turns into a 7.6-kilometer pink tunnel! It has also been officially selected as one of the "100 Famous Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan". The key point is that there are few people! Every shot I take is like a Japanese drama heroine~✨
🚆 Transportation
Direct train: Take the Meitetsu Inuyama Line from Nagoya Station (towards Inuyama) and get off at Iwakura Station. The journey takes 15-20 minutes and the one-way fare is about 350 yen. After exiting the station, follow the signs and walk for 5 minutes to the river!
⚠️ Note: The train runs every 15 minutes, and the last train is around 10pm
🌸 Must-see highlights
✔️ Cherry Blossom Tunnel: There are dense cherry blossom trees on both sides of the river, and you can see the pink ceiling when you look up! It is recommended to walk from Iwakura Station to the starting point of Gojo River Sakura Namiki, where there are few people and beautiful scenery.
✔️ 🎏 Carp streamer washing activity: You can see the traditional "carp streamer washing" during the Cherry Blossom Festival in early April! The locals use river water to wash off the glue on the flags, and the colors instantly become super bright. It is said that this craft has a 400-year history and is very ritualistic.
✔️ 🌙 Night cherry blossom lighting: The lights come on after 6pm, and the cherry blossoms are reflected on the river, super dreamy! But it’s windy at night, remember to bring a jacket~

Cherry blossom trees along the Gojo River: a spring story by the water
#Nagoya Sakura
The Gojo River near Nagoya turns into a pink and white dream corridor every spring. Cherry blossom trees stretch for several kilometers along the clear river. The pink flowers sway lightly in the breeze and are reflected on the water, creating a poetic and picturesque scene. Strolling along the riverside trail, the branches of the cherry trees are intertwined to form a natural cherry blossom tunnel. Occasionally, petals fall in the wind, gently embellishing the river water, like a flowing spring painting. The traditional "Somei Yoshino Cherry Blossom Rafting" is quietly taking place. Local craftsmen put the trimmed cherry blossom branches into the river, and they slowly drift away with the current. This ancient custom adds a touch of poetry and romance to the cherry blossom season. Tourists stroll leisurely along the river, stop to take pictures, or have picnics on the ground. The sounds of laughter and the spring breeze interweave, making the entire field of cherry blossoms and trees full of vitality. In the afternoon, I sat on a bench by the bridge, looking at the cherry blossoms and blue sky reflected on the river, feeling the tranquility and tenderness of spring. As the setting sun shines, the golden afterglow casts a warm glow on the cherry blossoms, making this spring beauty even more dreamy. I took a deep breath and treasured this spring scenery in my heart, looking forward to visiting Gojo River again next year and searching for the poetry of spring among the cherry blossoms and flowing water.
Nagoya Gojo River, encounter the beautiful cherry blossom scenery🌸
#名古屋樱花 My dears, I have been wanting to go cherry blossom viewing recently. I have been watching the weather for a whole week and have been struggling with where to go. Fortunately, my hard work paid off. After the rain stopped and the sky cleared, I finally embarked on this cherry blossom-chasing trip and went to Gojo River in Nagoya.
I have to say that the transportation on Gojo River is much more convenient than that on Kiso River! For someone like me who has a poor sense of direction, there are many clear instructions along the way, and even Chinese manuals. I don’t have to worry about getting lost at all. It’s really thoughtful.
Walking along the Gojo River, the cherry blossoms on both sides are in full bloom, and the pink and white petals dance in the wind. The scene is so beautiful that it takes your breath away. Many people spread out picnic mats on the river bank, enjoying the cherry blossoms and delicious food, which was very comfortable. I also joined in and recorded countless beautiful moments with my camera.
This cherry blossom-chasing trip was so satisfying. At Gojo River, I felt the most romantic atmosphere of spring. If you are also near Nagoya and want to find a cherry blossom viewing spot with convenient transportation, Gojo River is definitely a good choice!
🌸Nagoya Iwakura Gojo River | Encounter the stunning cherry blossoms
#nagoyasakura I finally succeeded in catching up with the cherry blossoms at Iwakura Gojo River in Nagoya. They are so beautiful that I am speechless.
As soon as I got off the car, I was shocked by the beautiful scenery in front of me. There are many varieties of cherry blossoms here, with different colors layered on top of each other, pure white and delicate pink, interweaving to create a dreamlike spring picture. As the breeze blows, the petals fall, as if a romantic flower rain is falling.
Transportation is super convenient. You can take the subway from Nagoya Station to Iwakura Station. The one-way trip costs only 400 yen, and you can reach this cherry blossom wonderland in less than half an hour. All the expectations along the way turned into surprises the moment I saw the sea of flowers.
Walking along the riverside trail, you can see the magnificent sight of cherry blossoms in full bloom, and any photo you take will be able to dominate the circle of friends. Whether you stroll among them and feel the colorful falling petals, or sit quietly aside to appreciate them, it is very pleasant.
Dear children in Nagoya and friends who are visiting here, don’t miss this limited spring romance. Find a nice day and go to Iwakura Gojo River for a date with cherry blossoms!
Nagoya|15 minutes by subway to enjoy cherry blossoms in the suburbs🌸
#名古屋樱花 The weather has been great in the past week, and the cherry blossoms at Iwakura Gojo River near Nagoya are in full bloom! 🌸
Today I went to Iwakura Gojo River, a suburb of Nagoya. It only takes 15 minutes to get there by express train from Nagoya Station. Walk toward the river for about five minutes after exiting Iwakura Station, and you will see a large area of cherry blossoms.
Strictly speaking, there aren't many people here, so it's a great place to get up close and personal with the beautiful cherry blossoms. The Cherry Blossom Avenue is super long. In addition to cherry blossoms, there are also large areas of rapeseed flowers in full bloom. It is really beautiful!
The riverside is full of people having picnics and enjoying the spring time. If you are tired from playing, you can also buy a cute Taiyaki or a soft dango in the shopping street to fill your stomach🍡

#Sakura2024
After the Japan Meteorological Agency announced that the cherry blossoms had bloomed, I went to see them at the famous Gojo River in Aichi Prefecture, and they were only 50% in bloom. Apparently, the cherry trees here were planted by my grandmother and her relatives when she evacuated during the war. Since hearing that story, I've been going there every year for about 10 years at this time of year.
When you walk from Iwakura Station to the Gojo River, there are many food stalls lined up, and you always end up eating more dumplings than flowers.

Gojo River IWAKURA AICHI🌸🌸
The Gojo River in Iwakura City (Aichi), Aichi Prefecture, has about 1,400 cherry trees lining the river, with a length of about 7.5 km. Every year during cherry blossom season, the “Iwakura Sakura Festival” is held. During this Japanese festival, traditional rickshaws are displayed, and there is also a “nonbori-arai” on the river. “Nonbori-arai” is a koi flag that is washed with glue in the river, symbolizing the growth of a boy, and is called “koinobori”. In Iwakura City, there is a long-established shop that produces koi flags. This is a great photo spot where you can enjoy traditional Japanese culture and cherry blossoms at the same time. When the flowers are in full bloom, the petals float down to the surface of the water. The farewell of spring with the pink covering the river will be the last image that will remain in the unforgettable memory.
