Spring and summer scenery
"Dogakuji Temple"
Dogakuji Temple is known as a famous spot for wisteria, the designated flower of Ishii Town, and is visited by many people, including pilgrims.
Every year from spring to summer, the "Makemake Wind Chime Festival" is held, where about 1,500 wind chimes with wishes written on them decorate the corridors of the temple grounds.
The name is a combination of "makemake," which means "overflowing" in Awa dialect, and "maken kenn," which means "lose one's hopes." The wind chimes, which originate from the wind chimes used to ward off evil, are hung here with the meaning that "the overflowing wind chimes will not defeat difficulties."
