Here’s my suggested itinerary: Day 1: Fly to Delhi Day 2: Early morning flight to Leh. Take time to rest and acclimate to the high altitude to avoid acute mountain sickness. Take a slow walk around the town center. Day 3: Explore Leh and the nearby monasteries. With its golden landscapes and crisp air, late September to early October is the perfect time to witness how the region transforms as the vibrant greenery fades into shades of gold, orange, and brown. Here are the places where I experienced the beauty of autumn: Leh: When we arrived in Leh, the trees in the city were still mostly green, so we decided to head to the Hemis Monastery. Fortunately, the trees there were beginning to turn yellow. Pangong Lake and Tso Moriri: In autumn, the stark contrast of barren mountains, shimmering lakes, and golden poplar trees creates stunning views. The colors of the lakes were truly amazing. However, as there are many sewages poured into the river everyday, it has gradually became polluted as only partial of it had gone through some water treatment and nowadays, it is 1 of the most polluted river in the world. Still, people who come will bathe here but it is not that recommend as it can be dangerous with the polluted water. From my inn yesterday, it was only 5 minutes by foot but it felt far because it was cold hehe. Every time I pass by here I am always greeted with the word "Juleh" which means Hello, in Leh I am mistaken for a Malaysian while in Jammu and Jaipur it is mistaken for a Ladakh. Me and my friend reached the fort, which is in the centre of the city. The fort didn't have a display board for timings, history and map. Everyone pushed us ahead to go on a bike, but we insisted on foot. Only then we saw the history board which was almost wiped out clean. The fort does not have timing as it is a living fort i.e. 90% of the fort @area is being used by locals as accommodation, restaurants, shops, hotel etc. The fort was unclean and very poorly maintained. There is not much history left and the guide (100 inr) hardly explains much. A part of the fort is being converted to the museum i.e. the king and queen area. There are approximately 8 jain temples very famous for their architecture and all were closed (1200-1930 closed). Other temples were open which may be not so old. The shops which sell antique and local wear, one needs to bargain. The fort does give a excellent view of the city. Please carry your own water bottle.
