A trip to Eastern Europe brought us to the picturesque lakeside town of Hallstatt. With its emerald mountains, clear lake, drifting mist, and church bell tower, it forms a beautiful postcard scene! If you visit Hallstatt without staying a night, how can you experience the town's most beautiful dusk and dawn? Make sure to spend the extra money on a lake view room to truly immerse yourself in the scenery! The Heritage Hotel is located right next to the pier and the church, offering prime lake views. The hotel has two buildings, and we were assigned to the one perched on the hillside. Although it wasn't directly by the lake, the higher elevation provided even better lake views, complete with a private balcony overlooking Lake Hallstatt. It was fantastic. We booked two superior double rooms, with a rate of €353 per night excluding breakfast. It's not too expensive, considering the rooms are 22 square meters with a private balcony and a sofa lounge area. The room I stayed in was on the top floor with a slanted roof, and there was a skylight above the bed, allowing us to stargaze while lying in bed. It was truly exceptional. The town is incredibly peaceful and pleasant in the early morning and evening, unlike the crowded and noisy daytime. Staying one night is really worth it, as you can capture postcard-perfect scenes without any tourists, making it look like a painting.

It took about three and a half hours to arrive at the station from Vienna station, and from there we took a boat to the opposite shore. You need to hand over cash when boarding, and it is a round-trip ticket, so be careful not to lose it. I had about four to five hours until the return train, so I was able to take a leisurely stroll around the small town. When it comes to lakes, we must mention the lake in Hallstatt, Europe's most beautiful town. The crystal-clear water, combined with the blue sky, mountain scenery, and town views, makes it a perfect place to spend a day in a daze. Walking around the lake, every spot is picturesque, and every photo taken looks like a postcard. You could spend an entire day just taking photos.

We booked a three-bedroom loft apartment, and it was exactly as shown in the pictures—everything was clean and tidy. From the bedroom windows, you can see mountains and lakes on three sides, and from the living room balcony, you can see the village of Hallstatt. The rooms are equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay and cooking. The owners provide essentials like tea, coffee, salt, sugar, and basic cooking oil. The apartment also has many games, puzzles, and books that my children loved. They also have a sun deck by the lake, which is a great spot for a quick picnic. The apartment is very close to all the places you want to visit in Hallstatt, yet it is very quiet and away from the tourist hustle and bustle. Hallstatt Lahn (bus/boat station) is a 4-minute walk from the apartment, and we had no trouble dragging our suitcases from there to the apartment. There is a children's park 50 meters from the apartment, which the kids loved. Supermarkets and restaurants are also nearby. The owners are very nice. They live on the first floor. They helped us move our luggage to the second floor (where we stayed) and let us use the washing machine (+ dryer) where we washed all our clothes. They even brought some bread so the kids could feed the swans on the sun deck. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Hallstatt.

Another bucket list of mine !! My dream place !! Hallstatt- Austria 🇦🇹. Such a beautiful dreamy place that i wanted to go long time ago. Such a small island and nearest city is Salzburg. But , due to fast / frequent and reliable Austria rail network, can make it day trip from few different city’s’ of Austria. There are no direct train to Hallstattersee . Just to Hallstatt only and take a few mins ferry ride to the island . Unless you drive yourself or go with tour group , the buses and car can go in. For me , I can use my rail pass until Hallstatt station and took ferry (7€ /two ways ) to Hallstattersee. Such a small place and can visit half day as well .
