[Saitama Prefecture] Guinness certified! The world's largest rice field art in Gyoda
The Guinness-certified world's largest rice field art, the pride of Gyoda City, Saitama Prefecture
Every year, a theme that symbolizes that year for Saitama (or Japan) is chosen, and a design is selected
In 2018, the first year of the Reiwa era, the design was the Japanese national team players for the Rugby World Cup
(Temporarily suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic)
When it resumed in 2021, it was Kabuki
In 2022, it was the soccer manga "Aoashi"
In 2023, it was the movie "Fly Me to Saitama," which was self-deprecating about Saitama
In 2024, it was "Ganbare Noto"
In front of the rice field art stands the 50m-tall "Kodairen Kaikan" tower, and you can view the rice field art from its observation deck (400 yen fee, Paypay payment available)
The rice is planted with the angle of view from the observation deck carefully calculated, so the design is visually natural. However, if you look at it from the ground, you won't know what it is at all (obviously).
The observation deck is freezing cold, so you can enjoy the Guinness-certified rice field art while cooling off during the height of summer.
By the way, it is a 360° panoramic observation deck, so if the weather is good, you can see Mt. Fuji (especially recommended in the winter evenings).
The best time to see the rice field art is from July to August, and until around mid-October before the rice harvest.
At the foot of the tower is a lotus pond where Gyoda's pride and joy, ancient lotus, and lotus from around the world are grown. The rice field season and lotus season overlap, so you can enjoy both.
The park itself is a convenient size for a stroll, and it is also a walking course for dogs.
The vegetables at the farm produce store at the entrance are fresh and very cheap, so I recommend them.
