Visit the secret place in northern Sweden---Gammelstad Church Village
#MarchGoodPlaces2025
Visit the secret place in northern Sweden - Gammelstad Church Village, Gammelstads kyrkstad, which retains the characteristics of early villages in Scandinavia with churches as the core. It was snowing in the middle of winter when we visited. The whole church village was covered in snow, which made it look particularly quiet and beautiful. It made me feel calm just by looking at it.
The classic landmark stone church in the church village - Gammelstad Church. The stone church cottage is quite cute and open to the public for free. The interior is solemn and holy, with a white Gothic dome, red carpet walkway, and a huge organ. It is quite beautiful.
The visitor center is also nearby. It is a fairy-tale red and white building that contains a historical introduction to the church village and tourist information. Most importantly, toilets are free. There is also a wooden open-air museum nearby that showcases life in ancient Sweden.
If you visit the church village during Christmas, you can also visit the lively Christmas market. It is really fun to spend Christmas in this Nordic snowy country!

The streets of Sweden
Walking through the town of Luleå, you'll notice that most of the houses have red wooden exteriors, creating a fairytale-like atmosphere. The red color stands out beautifully against the blue sky and snow, making it perfect for photography. The decorative window frames add to the charm 🫶!
Sidewalks and small paths are dotted with cozy cafes and shops selling Nordic-designed goods and local sweets, making it enjoyable just to browse. The quiet streets allow you to take your time strolling, snapping photos, and exploring.
Tips for exploring the town:
• The town is small enough to explore entirely on foot.
• There are historical spots like old churches and squares scattered throughout. Notably, Gammelstad Church Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the combination of red houses and wooden churches is a must-see.
