On the morning of October 19, it was a sunny day with no clouds in the sky. We booked today's helicopter glacier hiking activity online with mtcookguides long ago. So with very good weather, the trip went smoothly🤩 After checking in, there will be about 40 minutes of safety instructions for helicopter and glacier hiking, plus luggage storage and equipment wearing. You must wear the boots they provide. You can also choose whether to borrow their socks, waterproof jackets and pants, etc. I wore my own clothes. Although I was wearing yoga pants, it is actually recommended to wear waterproof pants, because if you want to sit on the glacier or want to get into the beautiful but small ice cave, you must wear waterproof pants! And remember not to wear jeans, if they get wet they will become hard and stick to your feet very cold 😅 You must bring a hat and gloves, as the wind on the glacier is a bit wet and cold. Sunscreen and sunglasses are also essential! After the explanation, it’s time to board the plane! I was lucky to be arranged in the front row seat. The scenery along the way was so beautiful. Some sections were very close to the mountain (Pictures 3-6 were taken in a helicopter). This was my first experience of taking a helicopter. I was very nervous and excited. It took about 10-15 minutes to reach the glacier. The guide took us to walk and take pictures on the glacier for about an hour. Along the way, we saw azure ice caves, ice caves, and bottomless ice gullies. To be honest, it was quite strenuous to walk with crampons on, but snow scenery and glaciers are very far away and rare for me who lives in a warm area, so I was looking forward to it and excited the whole time 🤣 The discomfort of walking didn’t affect my mood much🤩 Glacier hiking was the most anticipated activity in New Zealand. Hooker Valley Track - Mount Cook Hiking Route Compared to the Tasman hiking route, this one takes about 4 hours round trip. While Tasman has a beautiful endpoint, Hooker Valley offers more stunning scenery along the way! From the entrance, you will pass three suspension bridges. After crossing the second bridge, the view becomes more expansive. Mount Cook seems to be right in front of you, paired with the golden grasslands bathed in sunlight—it's truly breathtaking. I think the best spot for photos is between the second and third bridges. Although the route is longer, with stops for photos, it feels like just over two hours. Also, remember to use the restroom at the trail entrance!

#Natural Landscape Tasman Glacier River After a short walk from the parking lot, there are two routes. The left one leads to Blue Lake and Tasman Glacier view. The right one leads to Tasman Lake and River. The left one is actually only a small section, about 120 minutes of climbing to reach it. At the end, you can overlook Tasman Lake. The right one leads directly to the lake, and the journey takes about an hour. Here you can take pictures of the crystal clear floating ice by the lake. It looks like a big sparkling diamond in the sun. There are large and small floating ice on the lake, and it feels like a lonely planet when you take pictures. If you don’t have enough time, it is recommended to take the trail on the right. I think it is easier to take pictures here, and the floating ice looks more shocking~ In addition, the bottom of the trail will become a gravel road, which is more difficult to walk.
