2024 Fuliang Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Fuliang County is located in the northeastern part of Jiangxi Province and is under the jurisdiction of Jingdezhen City. Its landscape abounds in mountains, hills, plains, and rivers. The local specialties are “one porcelain and two teas.” The world ceramics capital, Jingdezhen, has historically been under the jurisdiction of Fuliang County. Fuliang therefore became known as “the source of the world’s porcelain capital.” One of the main tourist attractions here is Yaoli Old Village, the birthplace of Jingdezhen porcelain. The area is surrounded by mountains, ancient lush forests, bridges over flowing streams, waterfalls, and bubbling springs. It is an ideal summer retreat. The county is also home to Lingyan Cave, known as “the first cave in China.” The interior of the cave is made up of protruding stones formed by the flow of water wearing away limestone. This stone forest landscape is a wonder to behold.

Jiangxi hides a small and niche thousand-year-old ancient town, which not only has the charm of Jiangnan, but also allows free entry.
Jiangxi is a place full of poetic and picturesque scenery. The local tourism resources are very rich, including the famous Lushan Mountain with its unique and beautiful scenery, Wugong Mountain, a holy land for hiking with stunning views of the sea of clouds, Sanqing Mountain, like a Chinese ink painting, and Huangling, the most beautiful village in China. Many scenic spots are worth visiting, and there are also some overlooked niche travel destinations with their own unique charm. Today, let's take a look at a lesser-known thousand-year-old ancient town in Jiangxi, which retains the original Jiangnan style and is free of charge. It is worth a visit.
This ancient town is Yao Li Ancient Town, located in the eastern part of Fuliang County, Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Province, at the junction of Qimen, Xiuning, Wuyuan, and Fuliang counties. It is 50 kilometers away from the downtown area of Jingdezhen and Fuliang County. It occupies a very advantageous geographical location and has a history of more than two thousand years. It has been a prosperous commercial port since ancient times. Nowadays, the ancient town is rich in Gan-style architecture and tourism resources, and is known as the "origin of porcelain, hometown of tea, and sea of forests".
Yao Li Ancient Town is named after Jingdezhen porcelain kilns and is one of the origins of ceramic handicrafts. It has a history and culture of more than two thousand years. Nowadays, there are many ancient buildings left behind. Walking on the old streets of the ancient town, you can see the traces left by the years. Stepping on the stone road, it feels like traveling back in time. Wearing ancient costumes to take photos is very picturesque. Not only that, it is also a red relic. Comrade Chen Yi lived here and guided the reorganization work of the New Fourth Army, known as the "Yao Li Reorganization". Now an exhibition hall has been established, which is a red education base for accepting the enlightenment of revolutionary ideology and carrying out revolutionary traditional learning.
Yao Li ancient town is full of exotic Jiangnan style, and the scenery here is intoxicating. We can enjoy steep mountains, green streams, and simple villages. During the day, it is like a landscape in a Chinese ink painting, and at night, the lights are brilliant, with the charm of an ancient town. It is super beautiful for taking photos. The Yao River runs through the town, with clear water and no pollution, slowly flowing down. Surrounding it are ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties and distant mountains, forming a beautiful Jiangnan ink painting, which is very shocking and seems like a fairyland on earth.
In the ancient town, there are various delicious foods and authentic Jiangxi specialties. Whether you taste them locally or give them as gifts, they are all unforgettable. In addition, there is no admission fee to visit Yao Li ancient town, and you can enter and play for free. It is a national four-star scenic spot with complete humanistic landscape, natural scenery, and revolutionary sites, and has high historical and cultural value. In Jiangxi, Yao Li ancient town is a niche travel destination, but its beauty and charm are shocking. The scenery, ancient architecture, and food here are all worth exploring and tasting. It is a great place to check in.

Jingdezhen 2-day 1-night tour guide!
😎I had limited time, but I wanted to have a relaxing city walk, so I had to give up some museums (mainly because I didn't make a reservation, boo hoo 😭).
Now let me share my super chill 2-day 1-night itinerary👇.
Day 1️⃣
📍Sanbao Village
Wow 😃, I feel like I could city walk in Sanbao Village for a whole day! Just walk straight down the road, and there are all kinds of beautiful little shops on both sides of the road, and you can take beautiful photos anywhere 😍!
📷Photo spots:
➊Tao Coffee: The wall with the Jingdezhen internet-famous words, the gas cylinder, the lying bottle, and the speechless coffee are all here 👏.
➋9494 Aesthetic Space: Mom's bakery is a great place to take photos, and you can go in and have a look if you order a drink 😜.
➌Bukong Mountain: There is a minimum charge, so I didn't go in, but I went in through the Bukong Mountain Coffee next door and took some photos without spending any money 😎.
➍Sanbao Art Museum: 🎫20 yuan, just take a photo at the porcelain wall at the entrance, and you'll get great photos anywhere! 🥰
➎Sanbao Peng Art Museum: 🎫20 yuan, the exhibition inside is worth seeing.
...
There are so many more! Really, you can take beautiful photos anywhere here 😘.
ps: I arrived at noon and stayed at the Hidden Jingde Art Hotel in Sanbao Village 🏨, which is like an art gallery, and the lotus pond is also a great place to take photos 😉. Compared to staying in Taoxichuan, Sanbao Village is quieter and more convenient to travel around! After putting down my luggage 🧳, I rented a small electric scooter in the afternoon, 30 yuan/day, and started a pleasant tour and photo-taking 😎.
Day 2️⃣
Morning 📍Sculpture Porcelain Factory
The super popular Meiyan Institute, It Was Mud, and No Sleep Kneading Park are all here! Really, I don't want to leave 😆! In addition to the beautiful little shops, there is also a market to visit, and you can buy 3 bracelets for 10 yuan. No one can leave Jingdezhen empty-handed...🤣
Afternoon 📍Porcelain Palace
I walked into the colorful world of the old lady! You can take photos with a 0.5x wide angle from some angles, and the photos are quite nice, but there are a lot of people...😅

Jingdezhen Travel Guide
Jingdezhen Travel Guide|||Jingdezhen is a famous porcelain city that attracts countless tourists from home and abroad. I will introduce how to travel in Jingdezhen from the aspects of attractions, food, transportation, accommodation, etc.
1. The main attractions in Jingdezhen include Taobo City, Ancient Kiln Folk Customs Museum, Imperial Kiln Factory, Taoxichuan, Yaoli Ancient Town, Sculpture Porcelain Factory, Royal Kiln, Sanbao Village, etc.
Day 1: Ancient Kiln Folk Customs Museum in the morning, Imperial Kiln Factory in the afternoon (both places are about ancient porcelain-making relics and historical culture in Jingdezhen), Taoxichuan in the evening (a gathering place for ceramic cultural and creative crafts and a popular check-in place).
Day 2: Yaoli Ancient Town during the day (Yaoli Ancient Town is more than 40 km away from the city center, and the scenic area is large and takes a long time to visit, so considering the round-trip distance, play time, and rest time, you can spend the day in Yaoli Ancient Town), Sculpture Porcelain Factory in the evening (a huge market for small ceramic souvenirs with a wide variety of products and different prices, you can compare prices to improve cost performance).
Day 3: Sanbao Village in the morning (a place for tourists to experience making ceramics, with beautiful scenery), Royal Kiln in the afternoon (a place for making ceramics for the royal family in ancient times, high-end and elegant).
Day 4: Finally, you can go to Taobo City in the west of the city (a place for ceramic trade and exchange of Chinese and foreign ceramic crafts in Jingdezhen, with exhibitions and exchange meetings from time to time).
2. Jingdezhen's delicacies include beef bone noodles (beef bone noodles can be seen everywhere, a bowl of beef bone with a bowl of noodles, spicy and delicious), cold noodles (chewy and smooth), fried dough sticks and glutinous rice cakes (a combination of carbohydrates and glutinous rice cakes, soft and sweet).
3. Most of the above attractions in Jingdezhen are scattered throughout the city, which is inconvenient to travel. However, you can rent an electric bike for CNY 30 per day, which can travel dozens of kilometers a day. Compared with taking a taxi for CNY 10–20, renting an electric bike is affordable and convenient. You can also charge it at the store at night and borrow it again the next day if needed.
4. You can stay in the city center of Jingdezhen, so that the distance to each attraction is relatively moderate. Some hotels and homestays also offer ceramic-making experience activities, which are very good.

Yaoli Ancient Town - Enjoy the tranquility.
Yaoli Ancient Town, located in Fuliang County, Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Province, is an ancient town with a rich history and cultural background. It is known as the "source of porcelain, hometown of tea, and sea of forests" because of its close relationship with ceramics, tea production, and the natural environment. The history of Yaoli Ancient Town can be traced back to the end of the Western Han Dynasty, and it has been more than 2,000 years since then. In the middle of the Tang Dynasty, it had become a major town for national ceramic production. During the Song Dynasty, the ceramic industry in Yaoli developed rapidly, reached a glorious peak, and promoted the development of neighboring Jingdezhen. Later, Jingdezhen became more famous than Yaoli and became a prefecture-level city, while Yaoli returned to tranquility and became an ancient town.
Yaoli Ancient Town is located in the mountains, with the Yao River running through the town. The environment here is livable, with lush and deep primitive forests. The ancient town has a group of Ming and Qing style buildings scattered on both sides of the Yao River, including ancient kiln sites, Huizhou ancient commercial roads, etc. Yaoli is not only an ancient town with rich cultural landscapes, but also has natural ecological beauty. The harmonious coexistence of its living environment and natural environment gives people a feeling of traveling through time and space.
Yaoli Scenic Area is a national key scenic spot, a national historical and cultural town, a national mine park, a national key cultural relics protection unit, and a national natural and cultural dual heritage. The main attractions in the scenic area include Chen Yi's former residence, Shigang Shenglun, Wanghu Primitive Forest, Gaoling Soil Mine Site, etc. There are also Shigang Shenglun and Cheng's Ancestral Hall in the ancient town, which display the art of Huizhou's three carvings, and lanterns and local operas that reflect the local customs of Yaoli.
The ticket price for Yaoli Ancient Town is 92 yuan, covering an area of about 9,000 square meters. The ancient town is not only a treasure trove of history and culture, but also a place with beautiful natural scenery, attracting many tourists to visit.
Jingdezhen 740 Factory | A hidden gem reminiscent of Chiang Mai.
A small village with a few artsy shops
☕️Narrow Door Coffee
Opened by two Hong Kong ladies
The coffee is really good
The door is really narrow, which is quite interesting
The surrounding area is also great for photos
There is no second place in Jingdezhen that can live in such an environment at this price.
The whole villa homestay located at the north exit of Jingdezhen Expressway is too affordable, with an average of less than 100 per person, and there is a large parking lot at the door for free. It only takes more than ten minutes to drive to Taoxichuan, Sculpture Porcelain Factory, Taoyangli, Jingdezhen Museum, and only 5 minutes to the airport, which is very convenient. There is no second place in Jingdezhen that can live in such an environment at this price.
The room is consistent with the picture, the decoration style is very good, all kinds of facilities are beautifully arranged, the hygiene is very clean, and the stay is assured. The homestay is in a busy area with convenient transportation. The sound insulation is good, the air conditioning is cool, and I sleep very well all night. The most surprising thing is the rest chair in the room (incredible design). The key is that the chef's dishes are authentic Jiangxi stir-fry, super delicious

This place is more like a paradise than a restaurant.
When I was traveling in Jingdezhen and looking for a restaurant, I was deeply attracted by the environment of this restaurant.
Then I decided to go there. After I arrived, I found that it did not disappoint me. The small bridge and flowing water, the small courtyard, this is not like a restaurant, it is more like a popular scenic spot, it really feels like Tao Yuanming's paradise.
The key is that you can eat and drink here. The dishes I ordered that day were all delicious. They also ordered dishes in the open, and the ordering process was also very interesting.
The steamed cake, small yellow cattle, mountain stream magu fish, etc. are all delicious. I feel that their dishes can be ordered with closed eyes, which is very characteristic of Jingdezhen.
Everyone must come to eat at their home when they come here to play, and it is also very good to take pictures here.

Jingdezhen, a city with a thousand years of history, is known as the "Porcelain Capital".
Porcelain is the city's synonym.
The streets and alleys are lined with shops, and the locals make a living from it.
The night market is as bright as day.
Whether it's utensils, ornaments, or daily tableware, they all seem to be telling a story.
Porcelain is the city's original inhabitant.
These utensils, once buried in the dark, are more vivid than books,
heavier than history, and more specific than time.
Green bricks and black tiles, misty rain in the south of the Yangtze River.
It is said that the sky blue color on the porcelain needs to be fired under the temperature and humidity of the misty rain, so it is famous.

Don't get lost in Yaoli! Comprehensive navigation-style travel guide
🙈Why go to Yaoli⁉️
🎵"The sky blue waits for the rain, and I am waiting for you." It is said that the place described in Jay Chou's lyrics of "Blue and White Porcelain" is Yaoli Ancient Town in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province.
🍃This is the cradle of Jingdezhen ceramics, where ancient kilns have been burning for thousands of years, and every brick and tile tells the story of history.
.
🚗How to get there⁉️
There are two ways to get to Yaoli from Jingdezhen city.
◽️Self-driving or chartering a car, route suggestion: City Center—Bingding Kiln—Porcelain Palace—Yaoli Ancient Town—Hanxi Village (better sunset view)—City Center
◽️Taking the bus: First take a 🚌 from Jingdezhen city to Fuliang Bus Station, then take another 🚌 from the bus station to Yaoli.
.
🏨Where to stay⁉️
🏡In the ancient town: Staying in the ancient town allows for a deeper experience of the town's nightlife, but be aware that it may be slightly damp when it rains.
🏡At the entrance of the ancient town: Staying near the entrance of the ancient town requires a short walk, but the environment is quieter, and there are more breakfast options nearby.
.
🪂What to do⁉️
1️⃣Ming and Qing Commercial Street: Once the most prosperous commercial street on the ancient Huizhou Avenue, it is well-preserved, and the Ming dynasty shops on the street are unique.
2️⃣Shigang Victory View: A Gothic-style building with a blend of Chinese and Western elements, over 100 years old, with more than 100 wood carvings depicting scenes from ancient classics and operas.
3️⃣Cheng Family Ancestral Hall: Located by the Yaoli River under Lion Mountain, it was built in the Ming dynasty and features exquisite brick, stone, and wood carvings.
4️⃣Chen Yi's Former Residence: The place where Comrade Chen Yi worked and lived, feeling the footsteps of revolutionary predecessors.
5️⃣Fuyuan Bridge: An ancient bridge from the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was a must-pass bridge from Huizhou to Raozhou.
.
📷How to take photos⁉️
1️⃣Wooden Bridge: An excellent photo spot, Yaoli actually has two wooden bridges. The first one is more crowded, but if you walk further, there is another one with fewer people, and the bridge under the shade of ancient trees has a unique ancient town charm.
2️⃣Ancient Alley: The light in the ancient alley at dusk is particularly soft, making it the best time to capture the life of the ancient town.
3️⃣Yaoli River: Every corner by the Yaoli River is a good place for taking photos, whether it is in front of the inn by the wooden bridge or the Longlin Dam, you can take beautiful pictures.

Whimsical Noah~Mitchell27 The sky blue waits for the misty rain, and I wait for you in Yaoli
With green bricks and black tiles, the misty rain of Jiangnan, it can be said that Yaoli is the origin of porcelain, the place where kilns were fired in ancient times. It is said that the sky blue color on porcelain can only be achieved under the temperature and humidity of misty rain days, hence its fame.
Later, the name of this place gradually changed from 'Kiln' to 'Yaoli'. Yaoli Scenic Area is a national key scenic spot, a national historical and cultural town, a national mining park, a national key cultural relic protection unit, and a national natural and cultural dual heritage. Yaoli Ancient Town is a typical Gan-style architecture. It is also one of the top ten most beautiful ancient towns selected by National Geographic. There are no heavy commercial traces, so it is still worth a visit.
We took a taxi from the city center, which took about an hour. Along the way, we passed attractions such as the Porcelain Palace and Hanxi Village. There are also buses from the bus station, which are relatively more troublesome.
Yaoli has many restaurants run by local natives. We randomly chose one, and the taste was quite good.
Today's Discovery at the Ancient County Office of Fuliang
Li Bai's poem 'The Song of the Pipa Player' is often heard in Jingdezhen. The place mentioned in the poem, Fuliang, gradually unfolds before our eyes in the reality of time, a thousand years later. Among them, the Ancient County Office of Fuliang is the highlight of a one-day tour in Fuliang.
The Ancient County Office of Fuliang is located in the northeast of Jiangxi Province, a AAAA-level scenic spot, covering an area of 3.35 square kilometers. The entire scenic area centers around the 'Fuliang County Office' and the 'Red Tower', encapsulating the long-standing human history and splendid tea and porcelain culture of the ancient county office. The Fuliang County Office is the only well-preserved county-level office from the feudal era in southern China, hence it is known as the 'First County Office in Southern China'. In ancient times, Fuliang County governed the porcelain capital Jingdezhen, producing porcelain and tea, with abundant tributes, making it a superior county. The county magistrate held a fifth-rank official position, higher than the usual seventh-rank county officials, thus the architectural regulations of its county office were higher, earning it the title of 'China's First County Office'.
According to the distribution map of the Fuliang County Office in the Qing Daoguang 'Fuliang County Annals', the county office faces south with its main buildings on the east, middle, and west axes, arranged in three rows from south to north. The central axis includes the screen wall, the first gate, the ceremonial gate, the county courtyard, the six rooms (official room, household room, ritual room, military room, labor room, criminal room), the main hall, the second hall, the third hall, the flower hall, and the back garden. The existing Fuliang County Office consists of six groups of ancient buildings on the central axis after restoration.
🔆Scenic Highlights
The scenic area mainly features the Historical and Cultural Corridor, the Gothenburg Sculpture, the Millennium Porcelain Altar, the Ancient City Gate Tower, the Jingyi Zhai Museum, the Millennium Strange Osmanthus, the Millennium Red Tower, and the Fifth-Rank Ancient County Office. The main attraction is the physical building of the ancient county office in the deepest part.
💥Tour Time
The scenic area is very large, especially the main buildings of the ancient county office, which have three main lines. It takes at least an hour to rush through, but a more relaxed visit would take about two hours.
🎗️Itinerary
✔️From the entrance of the scenic area, walk for about 15 minutes through the Historical and Cultural Corridor and the commercial street to reach the ancient city wall. The Cultural Corridor showcases 1600 years of Fuliang's history in text and pictures, forming a long path on the ground, worth seeing.
✔️Continue forward, and the Millennium Red Tower at the third archway is not to be missed.
✔️After passing the last archway, you will arrive at the Fifth-Rank Ancient County Office of Fuliang. Inside the entrance, on both sides of the large lawn in front of the ceremonial gate, are the six rooms (official, household, ritual, military, labor, criminal) and the tax room.
✔️Passing through the 'Mirror High Suspended' third hall for public trials, the innermost part is the back garden and the Xiangshan Villa.
✔️In addition to the main buildings on the central axis, important check-in points on the west axis include the Inspector's Hall, the Clerk's Hall, the Chief Clerk's Hall, and the prison. Important check-in points on the east axis include the Ever-Normal Granary, the County Deputy's Office, the Fuliang Inspection Office, and the Three Classes Office, among others.

4️⃣The ancient town is not very large; one day is enough to explore it, except for those who want to savor every detail.
5️⃣There are many food options inside, so you can choose freely.

Not inferior to Wuzhen and Zhouzhuang, this thousand-year-old ancient town is truly a hidden gem!
The treasure land in my heart has finally revealed itself—Jingdezhen, a small city that planted a mysterious seed in my heart since childhood. The ceramic street lamps my mother spoke of in my childhood, now seen with my own eyes, I realize she was not exaggerating, and it is far more than that.
Jingdezhen is not only renowned for its ceramics but also rich in historical and cultural heritage. Walking through it, the atmosphere of humanity and art hits you, the ancient villages are like a paradise, and the thousand-year-old town tells the story of its past glory. The markets filled with whimsical ideas are dazzling, and every little item reveals the craftsmanship and wisdom of the artisans.
To fully appreciate the charm of Jingdezhen, I meticulously planned a three-day, two-night trip. On the first day, starting with the lively atmosphere of Fuzhou Lane, then to the profoundness of the China Ceramics Museum, and the imperial kiln twilight in Taoyangli, every place left me enchanted. On the second day, the unique style of Sanbao Village, the ancient techniques of Bingding Wood Kiln, the bustling market of the Sculpture Porcelain Factory, and the artistic vibe of Taoxichuan, all made me reluctant to leave. On the third day, the serene beauty of Yaoli Ancient Town, the tea fragrance of the Tang Tea Market, and the unique landscape of the Earth Lamp, all put a perfect end to my journey.
In Jingdezhen, there are a few places you absolutely cannot miss. Sanbao Village, a place full of creativity and inspiration, with attractions like the Gas Cylinder, the Internet-famous Kiln, the Sanbao Peng Art Museum, and Bukong Mountain, all dazzling. The China Ceramics Museum, remember to book in advance, and once inside, go to the sixth floor to see the Silent Buddha, which will surely inspire awe. Yaoli Ancient Town, like a flowing landscape painting, reminds one of Fang Wenshan's line "Sky blue waits for the misty rain," and here, you can indeed wait for that misty rain beauty.
Additionally, the Imperial Kiln Museum in Taoyangli, the lively market of the Sculpture Porcelain Factory, the exquisite shops of Taoxichuan, and the glass-blowing experience at Offline Space are all must-visit places. Especially Offline Space, where you can DIY your own glass-blowing works and take the finished product home, the sense of achievement is indescribable. Moreover, their new store is near the China Ceramics Museum, named after constellations, very creative.
Finally, some tips for friends planning to visit Jingdezhen: remember to book the museum three days in advance; Yaoli Ancient Town and other scenic spots are relatively far, it is recommended to hire a car or rent a car to visit; and Fuzhou Lane is an excellent place to taste local delicacies, such as beef bone noodles, lye cakes, and cold noodles, waiting for you to try.
Jingdezhen, a place I regret not discovering earlier, but fortunately, I finally met it. This beauty, I will cherish forever.
