Fukuoka Half-Day Citywalk, don't miss this beautiful coastal route
Returning to Fukuoka City from Futamigaura, it was still early, so I looked at the map and decided to take a Citywalk along the coastline, connecting several of Fukuoka's notable spots. It was actually quite worthwhile, as Fukuoka is the kind of city where you can relax and just wander around.
·
🔀Route
Washio Atago Shrine → Atago Bridge → Seaside Momochi Beach Park → Fukuoka Tower → Fukuoka City Museum
·
🚇Transportation
Take the subway Kūkō Line to Muromi Station, then walk 20 minutes to Washio Atago Shrine.
·
📸Highlights
✅Washio Atago Shrine: One of the oldest shrines in Fukuoka and one of Japan's three major Atago Shrines. After exiting the subway station, you need to walk up the road to the mountain. The mountain is not very high, but there is a slightly steep section. Along the way, there are charming houses and hydrangeas. The shrine itself is not very remarkable, but its location serves as an observation deck where you can overlook the entire city of Fukuoka, especially the coastal scenery along Fukuoka Tower. After visiting, you can descend from the other side and continue walking towards Fukuoka Tower. The streets along the way are quiet, and with the blue sky like in a manga, it's very picturesque.
✅Atago Bridge: Not really a tourist spot, but it's the estuary of the Muromi River with a wide view. Some people fish under the bridge. After crossing Atago Bridge, there's a coastal walking path where many locals jog.
✅Momochi Seaside Park: A section of artificial beach along the coast, the best angle to photograph Fukuoka Tower. Many young people gather and play beach volleyball here, and there are carp streamers fluttering in the wind. It's a very relaxing place, and the pier extending from the beach gives off a dazzling European vibe.
✅Fukuoka Tower: One of Fukuoka City's iconic buildings, built with 8,000 single-sided mirrors and a unique equilateral triangular shape, hence also known as the "Mirror Sail." However, from an intuitive perspective, I think it looks more like a skyscraper than a tower. Fukuoka Tower was built in 1989 to commemorate the "Asia-Pacific Expo" held that year. It stands 234 meters tall, making it the tallest seaside tower in Japan. From the 123-meter-high observation room, you can get a panoramic view of Fukuoka City and Hakata Bay.
✅Fukuoka City Museum: The main exhibition halls are on the second floor, including the Permanent Exhibition Room, Planning Exhibition Room, and Special Exhibition Room. The museum's treasure is the "Gold Seal of the King of Na of the Han Dynasty," a representative of early Sino-Japanese exchanges. What impressed me more was the huge float of the Hakata Gion Yamakasa in the hall.

Fukuoka's Popular Spot: Mutsukado, a Brunch Cafe Loved by Locals
I'd like to introduce 'Mutsukado,' a cafe in Hakata, Fukuoka, that is frequently visited by locals! I had already planned to visit, but after receiving a recommendation from the owner of my accommodation, I was even more determined to go :) Even though I visited in the morning, the tables were fully occupied. It's a great place for a morning brunch.
Mutsukado is located on the 5th floor of Amu Plaza at Hakata Station. It might be a bit confusing if you look at Google Maps, but once you enter the station, just take the escalator up to the 5th floor. It's a conveniently located cafe in Hakata, Fukuoka.

Fukuoka... Japan on a Budget.
♥️Fukuoka♥️
Fukuoka is a city in Japan located on Kyushu Island. This city is one of the top destinations for tourists because the airfare from Thailand is quite affordable. Round-trip tickets can be as low as 5000-7000 baht if you're lucky. Accommodation and food costs are also reasonable, with ramen vending machines offering meals for just 290 yen. We didn't explore Fukuoka city extensively because we spent most of our time riding the trains. However, the time we spent in Fukuoka prefecture was enough to enjoy eating, sightseeing, and shopping.

It's like a flying hotel designed by Hayao Miyazaki!
If you've seen classic animations like Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, you've probably seen some airships from the last century, where you could see the sky through the metal framework inside the airship. However, since the Hindenburg disaster, these airships have been replaced by modern airplanes due to safety concerns.
The designer of the Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk has incorporated this style into the hotel's design, allowing guests to feel like they are flying in an airship while dining.
The hotel also features many unique designs, such as the 'Edge of the World' cloud sea view chapel, the 'Infinity' sea view bathroom, the 'Ten Mile Beach' dining room, and the giant dome sports-themed guest rooms. It's truly unique, which is why it remains a popular staycation hotel in Kyushu even after many years of operation.

All-You-Can-Eat Mentaiko in Fukuoka
This place is located in a shopping mall, SOLARIA STAGE, right beneath Tenjin Station🏢. They procure fresh fish daily from Fukuoka's fish market🐟 and pride themselves on being the first in Tenjin, even in Fukuoka, to offer set meals with all-you-can-eat mentaiko🏆! The set meals featuring fresh fish as the main and rice🍚, paired with mentaiko and hot rice, taste superb👍.
We ordered two set meals, each coming with a small bowl of vegetables🥗, rice, miso soup🍲, and pickles. The kanpachi (amberjack) was incredibly satisfying😊, and the sashimi was also very plump👌. Since there's all-you-can-eat mentaiko, we didn't miss the chance to refill🔄, but honestly, mentaiko is a very salty condiment, and it's best eaten with rice🍚.

Fukuoka Sushi Restaurant Tsukijisushisen Nishinakasuten
Fukuoka Sushi Restaurant ⭐️Tsukijisushisen Nishinakasuten⭐️ is a sushi restaurant located on a major street in Fukuoka. The biggest advantage of this place is that it operates 24 hours a day. Additionally, the sushi is made with fairly decent ingredients. If you're in a hurry and want to grab a quick sushi meal, this is a recommended spot.

Fukuoka's Best Ramen Shop: Shin-Shin Ramen
Japan Trip ⭐️Shin-Shin Ramen⭐️ Tenjin Parco Branch is one of the direct stores of the popular ramen specialty shop, Shin-Shin Ramen, in Fukuoka. While the main store often has long lines outside, the Parco branch offers the advantage of waiting in a cool indoor space even in summer. With tables for four, it's a great spot for small groups to dine together. The portions are generous and the taste is excellent, making it a favorite among both locals and tourists.

Fukuoka Aesthetic Cafe
The pudding's visual appeal and the window seats are totally my style, so I definitely wanted to visit this place 🍮. At this cafe, you find a seat after placing your order! The staff was very friendly and explained everything well. They also serve meals, so it was mostly locals dining there. There are plenty of window seats, making it a great place to relax 🫧. They offer a pudding & drink set, which was more affordable than I expected, but unfortunately, the taste wasn't to my liking 😭.

Delicious Dining at Menya Kanetora, Fukuoka
📍Menya Kanetora
2 Chome-11-1 Tenjin, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka, 810-0001 Japan
Located in Tenjin, Fukuoka, Menya Kanetora is well-known for its queue-worthy dishes. The chicken is a standout menu item, accompanied by chashu, seaweed, and egg. For a genuine tsukemen experience, it's suggested to use the app for ordering.
Hakata Miyako Hotel: A luxurious resort-like Japanese izakaya, a must-try in Kyushu!
Hakata Miyako Hotel is located in front of Hakata Station, with direct access to the station and only a 1-minute walk away. The luxury is akin to a resort, yet it is situated in the heart of the city. Surprisingly, the restaurant also has high standards, and this time we introduce the Japanese izakaya on the second floor of the hotel.
Uozou Izakaya excites the taste buds, and the interior space design is also very comfortable. Especially the service staff make us feel at home, it's simply an izakaya that offers a five-sense experience, especially with the fresh sashimi, sushi, live octopus sashimi, and tempura, it's simply a heavenly delicacy, and also my top recommendation in Kyushu!

Staying in Itoshima! A hotel with a panoramic view of the sea in Itoshima.
Itoshima is a popular tourist spot in Fukuoka Prefecture.
Although many people visit Itoshima on a day trip from Fukuoka city, for those who want to spend a leisurely time in Itoshima, a hotel stay is recommended!
Head to the newly opened luxury resort hotel, 'seven x seven Itoshima', which blends into Futamigaura, just opened this March.
All rooms offer an ocean view, allowing you to enjoy a stay while gazing at the beautiful sea of Itoshima🌊
The rooms are equipped with a refrigerator and a kitchen, so you can cook and stay at your own pace, which is attractive.
Breakfast is brought to your room, so you can enjoy it slowly in your room🍽️
It was a wonderful hotel where you can fully enjoy the sea of Itoshima🏨
The Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk offers truly unbeatable views, but the rooms are a bit lacking
My last night in Kyushu was spent at the Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk, mainly for its renowned views, and indeed, the views did not disappoint. However, the room facilities were somewhat underwhelming, making the cost-performance ratio just average.
📍Detailed Address: Located right next to the Fukuoka Dome, it's considered a landmark location. However, it's not very convenient as it's a distance away from the nearest subway station, Tojinmachi Station. There are buses that stop in front of the hotel, and on weekends, there's a free shuttle bus to the subway station. There used to be a free shuttle to the airport, but that has been discontinued.
🏨Facilities: The hotel's exterior is distinctive, resembling a ship from above and a sail from the side. It's connected to the Seahawk City shopping mall, and the atrium is impressively grand. Compared to the excellent public areas, the guest room facilities are quite a letdown. Without exaggeration, aside from the exceptional view, the rooms are at the level of a hostel, small and lacking in design. The shower is the kind that's in the bathtub, but the view from the window makes up for everything. The ocean view is superb 👍
📝Service: The service is standard. The reception was not particularly welcoming during check-in, and they did not proactively explain everything; I had to ask. Also, it's strange that the pool requires an additional fee. However, as a Hilton Gold member, I was upgraded to an executive room on a high floor, which was nice. Additionally, the executive lounge is indeed nice, with simple decor but an excellent view, and the lounge staff provided great service 🌟
🍽Dining: For breakfast, you can choose between the downstairs restaurant or the upstairs lounge. For the view, I chose the lounge. The food is quite refined, with a decent variety. Each type is not presented in large quantities, but replenishments are timely. I didn't get a chance to go to the happy hour, but outside of breakfast and happy hour, you can go for drinks at any time ✅
Kyushu's Ultimate Travel Train in Japan
🚆 A tourist attraction in the Kyushu region of Japan, the Kyushu Seven Stars train is a sightseeing train that connects 7 prefectures. This luxury train, which can be called seven-star, has 7 carriages, each representing a prefecture. 🌠
🚃 The train was created by the Kyushu Railway Company, costing nearly 3 billion Japanese yen. It started operation in 2013, and the design of both the interior and exterior was overseen by Mr. Eiji Mitooka. The train's interior decoration uses high-quality rosewood, peach wood, and maple to build, and the bedrooms and dining rooms are made with a lot of wood and traditional Japanese crafts, perfectly interpreting Japanese elegant aesthetics. 🎇
🏠 The train has a total of 14 suites, accommodating only 28 guests. Passengers can choose one of two routes; one is a two-day and one-night trip around Fukuoka, and the other is a four-day and three-night trip around Kyushu. During the slow journey, travelers can enjoy the majestic volcanoes, lush bamboo forests, sparkling waves, and hot springs, feeling the ultimate romance bestowed by nature. ⭐
🚋 The culture of train travel in Japan has a long history, and train travel is a very popular way of traveling among Japanese people. On the Kyushu Seven Stars train, passengers can 'enjoy the time on the road' and experience top-level sightseeing and touring. However, the train's incredibly scarce seats require half a year's advance registration and use a lottery reservation system. The chance of being selected is only 3.9%, so many Japanese people have added riding the Kyushu Seven Stars train to their bucket list. 🎰
🛕 If you are fortunate enough to sit on the Kyushu Seven Stars train, you will deeply understand the highest realm of luxury travel. This is not just luxury, but also an exquisite experience worth reminiscing over a lifetime.
Great Breakfast in Fukuoka
#weekendgetaways
A beautifully esthetic interior design, which adds to the calm and cool ambiance. The restaurant sits atop a pier overlooking the harbor. Great breakfast spot in a wonderful location with an awesome ambiance!
Stumbled upon this place as we were walking around Fukuoka and decided to check out the menu for breakfast. So glad we did! A very satisfied breakfast and was a pretty standard western breakfast. The best was the fluffy pancakes, which tasted so good with the banana and with their toasted butter.
There was a bit of a wait, but it was well worth it.
屋台 Stall 🇯🇵 Fukuoka
Japan’s culture is such an amazing thing, I have been Fukuoka last month and I already fall in love with Japanese food a lot.
One of the signature culture in Japan is Stall(屋台). In here, you can try loads of food at night while chatting with friends . Stall usually located in some secret place , for example, Hakata outside, street road. I have tried the omelette and the famous beer of Japan. Highly recommend coming to here !
Moreover, I have also taken some pictures of the street . #Fukuoka #境外遊
Fascinating Fukuoka: A Colorful Journey of Flowers and Food
In April 2023, my family embarked on an unforgettable trip to Fukuoka. Accompanied by my mum, sister, and wife, we discovered a delightful array of experiences that left us with cherished memories.
Our first stop was Nokoshima Island Park, a haven of natural beauty. The park was adorned with an abundance of vibrant flowers, creating a kaleidoscope of colors that left us in awe. My mum, particularly, was delighted by the picturesque scenery, and her contented smile mirrored the enchanting surroundings.
Next on our itinerary was the renowned Marinoa City Fukuoka, a paradise for shopaholics. This sprawling outlet offered an extensive selection of stores, fulfilling our shopping cravings. We indulged in retail therapy, finding great bargains and adding fashionable pieces to our wardrobes.
Of course, a trip to Fukuoka wouldn't be complete without savoring its delectable cuisine. The city boasted a culinary scene that tantalized our taste buds. We couldn't resist the allure of authentic ramen and succulent yakiniku, which left us craving for more. Each culinary adventure was a gastronomic delight, allowing us to delve into the rich flavors and culinary traditions of Fukuoka.
Our exploration extended beyond Fukuoka to the charming city of Kumamoto, known for its ubiquitous mascot, Kumamon. Everywhere we turned, we were greeted by the adorable bear, spreading happiness and cuteness. Kumamoto's vibrant atmosphere and the endearing presence of Kumamon created a cheerful ambiance that resonated with our family.
One highlight of our visit to Kumamoto was the Kumamon Port in Yatsushiro. This haven for Kumamon enthusiasts showcased larger-than-life statues of the beloved character, beckoning us to capture memorable photos. It was a paradise for Kumamon fans, and we reveled in the joyous atmosphere that surrounded us.
Despite encountering heavy rain during our visit to Aso, we remained undeterred in our pursuit of adventure. Aso's renowned night scene, adorned with a blanket of stars, eluded us due to the inclement weather. However, we made the most of our time by exploring the Aso Volcano Museum, immersing ourselves in the captivating history and geology of the region. It was a unique experience that deepened our understanding of the natural wonders that shape our world.
Our journey concluded with a visit to Nabegataki Falls Park, where we encountered a breathtaking waterfall. What made this experience truly special was the ability to walk inside the cascading waters, allowing us to embrace nature's grandeur up close. It was a thrilling and refreshing encounter that invigorated our spirits.
As we bid farewell to Fukuoka, we reflected on the multitude of experiences that made this family trip extraordinary. From the vibrant floral landscapes of Nokoshima Island Park to the culinary delights of Fukuoka and the endearing charm of Kumamoto, each destination left an indelible mark on our heart.

Fukuoka
This is the Fukuoka city where you can find good food, beautiful nature and amazing vibes especially in summer season. The city itself is not so big like Tokyo or Osaka but still they have good and easy access from city center to some islands or nature place. Like on this picture, it takes only less than an hour to get to this stunning sunset view. So yeah, come and see this beautiful southern island:)
A cozy stay in Hakata
It is not often to stay at a hotel especially here in Fukuoka because i am from and living here but since I have got an opportunity to try so here is my experience.
This hotel itself was really cozy and loved the design inside and outside. Unfortunately, it was not so beautiful view from a window but still good that it is in the city center so you can enjoy the city fully!:)
Japan Fukuoka 🇯🇵
Japan is one of the famous places that people love to travel to! I have been Fukuoka this time and I really like the view in here! Fukuoka is also as known as the original place of ramen , and the ramen really taste good in here!
Moreover, you have to try the 屋台 where is the place located outside and you can have different Japanese dishes in here! For example, omelettes, skewer.

Uminonakamichi
This park is such a lovely and peaceful place to visit. It is just one hour trip from the city center and you can either take a train or a boat.
The park itself is quite big so good to have one day escape from the city and be in the nature with fresh air!
And if you have extra time, I would really recommend to visit the aquarium just next to the park, now it is a lot of to see inside and I’m sure you enjoy fully;)
