Wanggong Fishing Port

Wanggong Fishing Port is located in Fangyuan Township, Changhua County. It is a very distinctive fishing village in western Taiwan and is famous throughout Taiwan for its abundant production of plump "Wanggong Oysters". Its history can be traced back to the Qing Dynasty. It was called "Fanwa" in the early days and was once one of Taiwan's important trading ports. It is known as "Fuji, Luji, Mengjia, Baodou, and Fanwa". The fishing port is surrounded by a rich blend of natural and cultural landscapes, such as the intertidal zone ecology (fiddler crabs, mudskippers), mangrove wetlands, and the landmark "Fangyuan Lighthouse" - an octagonal lighthouse with black and white stripes, 37.4 meters high, and the youngest international lighthouse in Taiwan.
Wanggong Fishing Port, which has transformed into a tourist destination in recent years, has unique architectural landscapes, such as the "Wanggong Ecological Landscape Bridge", which won an international architecture award. Its streamlined shape is inspired by waves and oyster shells, and it looks even more sci-fi with the lighting at night. There is also the "King's Bow Bridge", where you can overlook the sunset and wind turbines, making it a hot spot for photography. Every summer, the Wanggong Fishing Fire Festival combines fireworks, grilled oysters and cultural activities to attract tourists to experience the charm of the fishing village. We recommend tasting local delicacies such as freshly grilled oysters and oyster pancakes, and taking a ride on an oxcart to experience oyster harvesting in the intertidal zone and get to know the life in the fishing village.
