🇵🇹 Day Trip To Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage site
Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Portugal, is known for its well-preserved medieval architecture, Roman ruins, and rich history. It is about 1.5 hours by car or train from Lisbon so it makes a perfect day trip destination from Lisbon. The historic centre of Evora is small enough to be explored on foot. The major attractions include:
🌟 Roman Temple (Templo Romano de Évora)
This is one of the best-preserved Roman structures on the Iberian Peninsula, dating back to the 1st century.
🌟 Cathedral of Évora (Sé de Évora)
A massive Gothic structure with stunning views from the roof.
🌟 Praça do Giraldo
The main square of Évora, surrounded by historical buildings and filled with local cafes.
🌟 Évora Aqueduct (Aqueduto da Água de Prata)
A marvel of Renaissance engineering built to supply water to the city in the 16th century

Explored Evora, UNESCO world heritage on foot

Evora is the capital of Portugal's south-central Alentejo region. The city's historic centre is small enough to be explored on foot. You certainly won't miss the landmarks such as the ancient Roman Temple of Évora (also called the Temple of Diana) from 1st century, Cathedral of Évora from 12th century and also spectacular stone aqueduct that borders the old town from the 16th century. I like the old town centre as it is well-preserved. You can see a lot of medieval walls amidst the new buildings.
In 2023 I wish to travel to Korea as my Korea trip was cancelled 2 years ago due to the pandemic. So it's time to fly again!

Ticking skydiving off the bucket list!
#2023travelwish
Skydiving is one of the activities on many thrill seekers' bucket list. We did in when we were in Portugal. You can do it in many other drop zones across Europe.
Skydiving is available in a few places in Portugal. Our first choice is in Algarve, Faro because of the beautiful views of the beaches in southern Portugal. There are skydiving packages which include domestic flight from Lisbon to Algarve. So even though skydiving is not available in Lisbon we can also do it during our visit to Lisbon. Unfortunately the weather was not good so we had to cancel the skydiving trip on Algarve. Eventually we did it in Evora, a city in south-central Portugal, about 1.5 h train ride from Lisbon.
We paid 199 euros each to skydive from the highest available height (about 4200 m) where we get to experience free fall for about 1 minute. You can of course pay extra (at least 60 euros) to add on photos and videos. Photos and videos are taken from the instructor's internal camera and from the external camera of another videographer skydiver.
In 2023 I wish to skydive in another beautiful place!

Let's Jump! Splendid Skydive
Made a stop at Evora and there I was..enjoying the bird's eye view from 16,404.2ft for a 75secs of 200km/h free fall. thanks to my tandem master, Fraustino for letting me to steer the parachute as well. So if you feel like getting that adrenaline pumping, just strap urself to a jumper n jump!! this one took me around €240 including videos and pictures. hoping one day i would be able to take up the skydiving course & with that i can burn more calories but in a fun way.
I took the jump through Skydive Portugal. the skydive drop zone located just one hour from Lisbon on the spectacular Alentejo. They operate all-year-round (7 days a week) and our location ensures great weather conditions, even during winter.

This is Évora, Portugal
I Love Évora. It’s an old city, capital from Alentejo’s state in Portugal. It is so charming. This was my first time there and I couldn’t believe how beautiful it is. There are many restaurants, bars and shops in the downtown. You can find really good Portuguese food in the main square in front of the church. 👏🏻 There is also a very famous church builded by bones. I recommend you to visit Évora in your next trip to Portugal!

Very unusual 💀
We visited the Chapel of Bones in Évora (Portugal). What a weird place to visited. However, it is not scary. It gets you to think about life and how things will be. Weird but in a good way I would say. If you are passing by Evora, I recommend doing the Chapel of Bones, the Roman Temple and the Cathedral. Three beautiful attractions to be visited in this very little town #100WaysOfTravel
🇵🇹 Dining @ Enoteca Cartuxa 🍷 in the Heart of Evora Historic Centre
While exploring Évora, we stumbled upon Enoteca Cartuxa, a restaurant renowned for serving wines from its own winery and offering regional cuisine. Situated in the heart of the city's historic center, it is conveniently close to the ancient Roman Temple of Évora and the Cathedral of Évora. The restaurant is elegantly decorated, exuding a cozy ambiance. Arriving in the late afternoon, we found the restaurant pleasantly uncrowded.
We savored dishes prepared by Chef José, including pumpkin risotto, asparagus and sea bass, and finished with chocolate mousse topped with peanut crumble for dessert. We also enjoyed red wine from the Cartuxa winery. Additionally, the restaurant offers regional cheeses, cured meats, and other authentic Alentejo dishes, enhancing the local culinary experience.

Temple of Diana
#europetrip (Temple of Diana) is located in a very nice park. It’s has very beautiful architecture and is a very well kept temple. The temple is surrounded by a very lovely garden. The temple is just one of many sites to see. It’s fairly large park and it’s worth the trip visiting and checking out the temples, statues, water fountains and ponds located in and around the area. I enjoyed my time here and would definitely recommend taking a nice long walk in this park and seeing its beautiful surroundings and sites.

##historicallandmarks Evora
There are human bone churches in many parts of the world, both in Czech and Italian, and it is not uncommon. In Evora, Portugal, there is also such a place. The top of the door says that your bones will eventually be with me. I think of Mr. Zhaos famous sentence: The small box is your home forever. Life and death are long and short, so good every day
Among the Portuguese destinations, visitors usually go to Lisbon and Porto, or have a college town in Coimbra. But the world heritage city of Evora has attracted many tourists because of the human bone church. The human bone church is actually not large, the length is no more than 60 meters, the width is about 11 meters, but it contains more than 5,000 wills.
The walls and columns of the church are made of human bones. It is dense and gives a sense of suffocation.
A black death in the 14th century and a war in the 15th century, the small town of Evora has killed more than 30,000 people, and the death toll is so large that there is no room for resettlement. In the 16th century, the priests moved the bones into the church and piled them into pyramids. There were too many people. Later, some people simply used the bones as decorative materials, and they inadvertently created today's human bone church.
