North Island of New Zealand - Tree Mountain and Volcano Crater
Auckland is the largest city and port in New Zealand, located in the central and northern part of the North Island of New Zealand, surrounded by water on three sides. The city is composed of many small volcanoes, and the city center is a hilly land. The One Tree Hill in Auckland is a good place for citizens to relax, exercise, with dense forests, tall trees, fresh air, and beautiful environment. It is mainly dominated by the former volcano crater. Climbing up the One Tree Hill, you can watch the whole view of Auckland city. One Tree Hill
Father of Auckland Monument One Tree Hill Auckland
One Tree Hill, located in Cornwall Park, south of Auckland, New Zealand. Before going, a friend introduced that the so-called tree of One Tree Hill is no longer there, and a monument to Sir John Logan Campbell, known as the father of Auckland, is worth seeing.
Driving halfway up the mountain, you need to climb the slope, which is a bit steep. One Tree Hill is 183 meters high, and you can see a spire from a distance. John Logan Campbell was born in Edinburgh in 1817 and immigrated to Auckland in 1840. Initially operating on the beach, he later built warehouses, did banking, loans and agency business, and had a great influence in business and social life. He was once a member of the regional and New Zealand parliaments. In 1853, he donated 1,000 acres of land to establish and donate One Tree Hill Park. John Logan Campbell admired and admired the perseverance and achievements of the Maori people, and also predicted that the new generation of New Zealanders will replace the Maori status. He intended to donate to build a spire, which took many years. The spire was completed in 1940 and unveiled in 1948. The host was a Maori leader. New Zealanders believe that John Logan Campbell has made contributions to business and social life, regarded as the father of Auckland, and also regard this spire as a symbol of Auckland. There are people offering flowers under the monument.
If you want to see the panorama of the city, there are two places to go. One is Mount Eden and the other is a tree mountain. Because of the belt, I still choose a tree, because it can drive directly to the top of the mountain.
Yishu Mountain is also called Dushu Mountain. It is located in the Cornwall Park in the southern suburbs of Auckland. It is a hillock formed by volcanic eruptions about 30,000 years ago and is 182 meters high. There was once a lonely pine tree on the top of the mountain. Now the tree is no longer there and there is only one monument and the tomb of Sir John Logan Campbell, the father of Auckland.
