Roaming the grounds of My Son Sanctuary, so many beautiful ruins around. Some are being rebuilt carefully as they don’t want to destroy or diminish the original ruins of this huge temple. When visitors also come to visit, they are careful not to touch or deface any of the structures. The sanctuary is huge and surrounded by nature, it was really nice to see the structures even in their destructed conditions. Here is another introduction to Vietnam's World Heritage sites☺️ In April this year, I went on a motorbike tour of seven of the eight World Heritage sites🛵🛵🛵🇻🇳 The sites I'm introducing this time are about an hour's drive from Da Nang or Hoi An (I went about two hours by motorbike from Hoi An🙆‍♀️🛵) My Son Sanctuary (World Heritage Site, 1999), a sacred place for the Hindu god Shiva in the Champa Kingdom My Son Sanctuary was discovered in 1885 and research and preservation activities were carried out, but it was bombed by the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, and many of the ruins were destroyed, and some ruins look as if they are about to collapse at any moment, so restoration work is still being carried out. At the last rest area, there is a traditional Cham dance show Every day, from 9:15, 10:45, 14:00, and 15:30, You can watch it for 20 minutes at your leisure🥺 I was able to watch it from 14:00😊 In Group G, there are some kind of shows twice a day, at 10:00 and 14:45🙄🙄 (According to the sign, it says it depends on the weather. Location: Duy Phú, Duy Xuyên District, Quảng Nam, Vietnam About 45 mins drive from Hoi An old town, we came to visit the ruined Hindo temples that were constructed between the 4th and the 14th century by the Kings of Champa, an Indianized kingdom of the Cham people (according to Wikipedia :) I have been to a number of Hindu Temples, of which Angkor Wat being the greatest, Bali as well as Thailand Ayutthaya, there almost resemble some similarities in somewhere or what not. My Son Sanctuary was considered a smaller scale with 7 sites, (B,C,D is the biggest complex of the ruins) if I could compare, but it's still worth a visit. Tickets cost 150.000 VND for adults and 40.000 VND for children. There are few ways to get here, but we have hired a local driver that makes our time more flexible to travel from one place to another. I mean, it's UNESCO world heritage, so obviously a must see. We booked a private tour with pick-up from Hoi An. Expensive but worth it to have a local guide that can explain everything. We also went very early (8 AM) which is definitely a good idea! No hundreds of tourists disturbing the peace but rather enjoying the sereen environment where My Son is situated. Also the sun was burning already like hell so we were very happy we didn't go any later in the day. the site itself is big with plenty of temples. While all dedicated tot he same god there are differences between them. Lot's of international cooperation to restore the temples which makes it easier to imagine how they would've looked. A real shame that the war damaged so many of them. It would've been amazing to see them while still in one piece! #bucketlistreboot

I went to My Son ruins, which are close to Da Nang in Vietnam. It's convenient to take a taxi from the airport. It costs about 4,000 yen round trip. A short walk from the entrance is the electric cart stand, so you can ride it into the interior. Once you arrive, you can walk around the whole area. An hour is enough to see everything. The ruins are similar to the pagodas in Bagan, Myanmar, but most of them have collapsed. These ruins are also made of bricks, but I couldn't find any information on where the bricks were made. I'll look into it the next time I visit.

Another notable feature of the My Son Sanctuary is the scars left by the Vietnam War. In fact, some parts of the ruins have collapsed due to bombings, making you realize the intersection of historical heritage and war memories. Despite this, the remaining ruins stand with dignity, quietly harmonizing with nature. The area around the ruins is lush with greenery, and if you visit early in the morning, you can witness a mystical landscape shrouded in mist. Walking through the ruins while listening to the chirping of birds, you feel as if you have wandered into a distant past. It is a recommended place not only for history enthusiasts but also for those who want to enjoy the ruins in peace. My Son Sanctuary is not just a tourist destination but a sacred space where history and nature coexist. When you visit Vietnam, be sure to experience the charm of this hidden sanctuary.

My Son Sanctuary🛕 It is a sacred place of the Champa Kingdom that enshrines Hindu gods, which can be reached in about 1 hour and 10 minutes from Da Nang. We took a taxi to get there using Grab. We negotiated with the driver and he waited until the end of the tour. I recommend negotiating! ︎ It was built in the 4th to 13th centuries, but the precious ruins are in a devastated state due to attacks by the US military during the Vietnam War. It seems that the North Vietnamese army used the My Son ruins as an arsenal. There were many bomb marks left. We were able to get a glimpse of the old ruins and the misery of the Vietnam War. Now, restoration is being carried out mainly with the assistance of India (and a little bit of Japan). It was a mysterious space with a mysterious atmosphere. The entrance fee is about 900 yen. It is cheapest to buy tickets at the ticket office on the day. The journey takes about 2 hours. I went in March, and it was very hot, so please take measures against the heat. It might be a good idea to enjoy the Hindu ruins that are unfamiliar to Japanese people? Five Elements Mountain🏔️(6th photo onwards) It takes about 20 minutes from Da Nang. You can get a car from Grab on both the way there and back, so it's not a problem. It is said that Son Goku was imprisoned here. There are several large and small caves. The Five Elements Mountains, which were formed naturally on the plains, are easily accessible from Da Nang and are visited by many tourists. If you want to see the sun shining into the caves, I recommend going by 11am on a sunny day! You can't see them after that. The entrance fee is about 300 yen, and if you take the elevator to the top of the mountain, it's +100 yen, but I recommend climbing on foot. It was like an adventure and it was a lot of fun, so if you have the stamina, please do it! It takes about 1 to 2 hours. ⚠️It's better to avoid wearing sandals or shoes that you are not used to because there are a lot of ups and downs. My Son Sanctuary is a complex of ancient Hindu temples dedicated to the worship of Shiva, built between the 4th and 14th centuries in Quang Nam province. It was an important religious center of the Champa Kingdom, where sacred rituals were held and where kings and high-ranking religious leaders were buried. Visiting My Son is an excellent way to explore the fascinating culture that developed in this part of Vietnam until the 14th century. While staying in Da Nang in central Vietnam, I took a taxi to stretch my legs and headed out to the My Son ruins. It's quite hot here in the summer, so I recommend heading out early in the morning. Also, you need to be careful about the heat, as there isn't much shade. There were not many Japanese people, and I got the impression that there were more Westerners. You can also see people in traditional costumes performing traditional dances on stage. This is a sacred place for the Champa Kingdom, which arose at the end of the II period and flourished as a base for maritime trade until the 17th century. Over 70 shrines made of baked bricks dedicated to Hindu gods remain, and the area was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1999. The ruins buried in vegetation exude a sense of impermanence, which is also beautiful in My Son. I think it's worth going!

My Son is known as "Little Angkor". In 1898, a French archaeologist discovered 71 brick pagodas. It was built between the 4th and 14th centuries. It is a series of abandoned and destroyed Hindu temple sites. They are built with red bricks and have gorgeous carvings. These temples worship the god Shiva. There were originally 71, but now only 20 remain. It is located 69 kilometers southeast of Da Nang. My Son is located near My Son Village in Quang Nam Province. After entering the scenic area, there will be local music and dance performances for about 30 minutes, experiencing the beauty of local cultural music and dance.
