2024 Dublin Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in December)
Dublin needs to examine first glance like a fairly modern city. Founded by the Vikings over 1,000 years ago (you can see the archaeological evidence, at the Dublinia Museum), the Irish capital feels like a mythic place. While you won't see the historic buildings of many other European cities, the charm of the Irish capital lies in it culture and people. Duck into one of Dublin's 600+ pubs to hear an Irish music jam session. A literary city like no other, experience Dublin literature on a literary pub crawl or visit museums dedicated to the written word. Wish to medieval illustrated manuscripts? Look at the Book of Kells at Trinity College. Want something a little more recent? The Bram Stoker Museum showcases the life of the Dracula author. Of course, Ireland wouldn’t be the same ones without its beer or whiskey, so a sojourn to the Guinness Storehouse or the Old Jamestown Distillery is a highlight. Keep up the partying in the restaurants and bars of Dublin's vibrant Temple Bar district, where you can sleep in a hotel owned by members of U2.

Wake me up when autumn comes to Ireland
Like other European countries, spring and autumn are the best seasons to travel to Ireland. During my one year of staying here, I was fortunate to experience all four seasons in this country. Autumn is short but incredibly beautiful.
Ireland is a green country, so you can imagine how stunning it is when all the trees turn yellow and red during the autumn. I still remember one day when the trees were green, and just after one night, my entire university had transformed completely.
My first, and of course biased, autumn spot in Ireland is my university—University College Dublin, Smurfit Graduate Business School in Blackrock. Trust me, it is absolutely stunning.
Other popular places for autumn lovers in Dublin include:
> Phoenix Park
> St. Stephen's Green
> Botanic Gardens
> Dublin Castle
> The River Liffey
> Howth

Your guide in Dublin Ireland 🗺️
#localtourguides
Dublin is a city that truly captures your heart with its mix of history, culture, and incredible atmosphere. 🍀 I started my day at the iconic Trinity College, home to the stunning Book of Kells. For about €16, you can view this medieval manuscript and explore the beautiful Long Room Library, which feels like stepping into a scene from *Harry Potter*. 📚 The atmosphere here is just magical, and it's a perfect way to dive into Ireland’s literary heritage.
Next up was the Guinness Storehouse, a must-visit even if you’re not a big beer drinker. For around €30, you can take a self-guided tour through seven floors of Guinness history, topped off with a pint at the Gravity Bar, which offers panoramic views of the city. 🍺 The tour is interactive, informative, and genuinely fun – it’s no wonder it's one of Dublin’s top attractions!
Strolling along the River Liffey, I made my way to Temple Bar, the vibrant cultural quarter known for its lively pubs and street performances. 🎶 The energy here is contagious, with traditional Irish music spilling out of every corner. Don’t miss the Temple Bar Pub itself, but be prepared – it's usually packed! A quick detour to Dublin Castle (€8) gave me a taste of Dublin’s medieval past, with its impressive State Apartments and the Chester Beatty Library’s incredible collection of manuscripts.
No visit to Dublin is complete without a walk through St. Stephen’s Green, a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city. 🌳 Nearby Grafton Street is perfect for shopping and people-watching. My final stop was Kilmainham Gaol, a sobering but fascinating place that played a key role in Ireland’s history. Entry is €8, and the guided tour is well worth it.
Dublin is a city that feels like a conversation waiting to happen – every street, every building has a story to tell. #trip #DublinExplored #GuinnessStorehouse #TempleBarVibes #IrishHistory #TravelDublin

"Deer on the outskirts of Dublin: elegance and tranquility in a natural landscape"
#naturalscape#100 Ways to Travel In the suburbs of Dublin, there is a picturesque natural world. The scenery here changes throughout the seasons, but no matter when you visit, you can always meet the leisurely herd of deer. These elegant creatures are the guardians of this land, and their presence adds a sense of mystery and agility to this peaceful countryside.
In the early morning, when the first ray of sunlight gently touches the green grass, the deer quietly appear in the morning mist. Their figures are vaguely visible, as if they are coming from a dream. The deer walked slowly, lowering their heads quietly to nibble on the grass leaves. Every movement was so light and graceful. Their slender necks and dexterous limbs are like works of art carved by nature, blending perfectly with the surrounding scenery.
In autumn, when the oak leaves gradually turn golden and fiery red, the deer walking through this gorgeous forest become the most vivid color in the picture. The wind blew gently, the leaves rustled, and the footsteps of deer lightly punctuated the silence. Occasionally, the male deer raises its head, its towering antlers shining in the sun, symbolizing strength and dignity.
The deer in the suburbs of Dublin are not only part of this natural landscape, but also a symbol of the harmonious coexistence between man and nature. When you walk on this land and meet the deer, you will feel a kind of purity and tranquility from nature, and your soul will be purified at this moment. Their existence reminds us that even in the hustle and bustle of modern society, there is still such a quiet corner where we can dance with nature and breathe together with these elegant creatures.

🍀 Dublin Delights: Radisson Blu St. Helen's Hotel Review 🏨
Radisson Blu St. Helen's Hotel, Dublin
Stillorgan Road, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland
Nestled in the serene suburbs of Dublin County, the Radisson Blu St. Helen's Hotel is a tranquil haven offering more than just a place to sleep. 🛏️ The lush Christmas decorations create a festive atmosphere, perfect for holiday stays. While it could up its game with in-room slippers and a more reliable heater, the charm is undeniable.
The hotel boasts a prime location, combining the best of both worlds: quiet surroundings for a peaceful retreat and a hearty breakfast to kickstart your day. 🍳 Fitness fanatics might find the gym just 'okay,' but the cleanliness and the warm, attentive service at the front desk more than make up for it.

Dive into Dublin! 🇮🇪📸
Getting There - For a capital city, Dublin is very walkable. Most of the attractions are located in the inner city center within walking distance from each other. If you don’t fancy the walk, there’s many Dublin buses that will take you to wherever you want to go. 🚎A good starting point is O’Connell Bridge. From here you can venture into the hustle and bustle of the North side and later explore the more upscale South side. 📸
Attractions - Check out the temple bar area for some cool vibes. There are many bars and restaurants 🍻(a little bit overpriced) and the overall vibe is incredible. There’s a real Irish feeling here. One pub I really like is O’Neills on Suffolk Street. 👌
Hotels - Looking for a place to stay? 🏨 Check out the Paramount hotel in Temple Bar. It’s central and the price was reasonable for Dublin when I stayed.
Restaurants - One of my favorite places to eat in Dublin is Captain Americas. 🇺🇸You’ll find it at the top of Grafton Street. You won’t get your authentic Irish experience but the food is really good! 🍔
Shopping - Henry Street on the North Side and Grafton Street on the South Side are line with all the major high street brands!🛍️ If you’re looking for a mall head to the Jervos Street shopping center. If you want an even better mall, take the Luas (a tram) 🚋to Dunedin Town Center where you’ll find the biggest mall in Ireland!
I hope you enjoy your time in Dublin! 🇮🇪

Christ Church Cathedral Dublin
Christ Church Cathedral has stood at the heart of Dublin for almost 1,000 years. Many visitors from all over the world are welcomed to this important heritage site every day.
Throughout the centuries, the cathedral has built a reputation for excellence in many areas through its liturgy, outreach, music, and hospitality. It is also a space celebrated for its beauty, the sense of spiritual and an enduring invitation to all generations
Holyhead to Dublin Ferry 🏴🇮🇪
I took the Stena Adventurer ferry to Dublin from Holyhead which takes around 3hours 15 mins and has up to 4 sailings each day with Irish Ferries also operating this route .
Holyhead port is located in Anglesey north Wales and is conveniently situated at the end of the A55 carriageway , the port also has a large duty free shop and short and long stay parking .
I’ve travelled this route a few times and this crossing even tho a bit choppy was beautiful with blue sky and an amazing sunset .
With the Stena Adventurer and Stena Estrid ferries both on this route they have great facilities for such a short crossing , with bars ,restaurants , duty free shopping , arcade and quiet areas to sit and relax .
I would also recommend Stena plus a private lounge for passengers for a small extra charge with comfortable seating , complimentary refreshments and snacks , newspapers and magazines and a dedicated waiter service .
As a foot passenger I waited to disembark the ferry when we arrived in Dublin and outside the terminal building a bus was waiting to take passengers to the City centre which was very convenient and only €3
as the Stena Line terminal is about 4 miles east of Dublin City centre , the terminal also has short and long term parking as well as a passenger lounge , baby changing facilities free Wi-Fi , disability assistance/ toilets , vending machines and a drop off area .
The port also has extensive signage to all main roads including the M50 toll road .
Modern Ireland
Dublin is one of the coolest and friendliest cities in Europe. Located just outside of the UK in Ireland. A city filled with wonderful ancient and modern buildings.
Dublin, capital of the Republic of Ireland, is on Ireland’s east coast at the mouth of the River Liffey. Its historic buildings include Dublin Castle, dating to the 13th century, and imposing St Patrick’s Cathedral, founded in 1191. City parks include landscaped St Stephen’s Green and huge Phoenix Park, containing Dublin Zoo.

Dublin Ireland
Dublin the capital city of Republic Ireland is the biggest city in Ireland. Best known for the production of Guinness stout and many beautiful castles. You can sightsee the city by taking the Big Bus service for a full day tour and stop at the places of attraction of your choice and continue to other destinations by boarding the same company Big Bus. There are few malls at the city center and nice cafes.
Exploring the medieval city 📸
My home “city” is a great place to wander around and explore. lots of ancient streets and buildings to take pictures of. Cafes, bars, and restaurants can be found everywhere. people are also super friendly. Kilkenny is only two hours outside of Dublin and it is easily reached by trains, buses, and cars.

Beautiful Dublin with room for Guiness
We spent 2 days in Dublin and had the best time, what a lovely city and also the people. You should really try out going there, in my opinion the most interesting and liveable city in Ireland + the whole UK!
First day we went sightseeing and went to the National Museum, as well as local shops where you can buy all kind of selfmade products.
All in all I recommend it to everyone you, can even see the seaside if you only drive like half an hour.#dublin #2023travelwish #tripblazers

CHRISTMAS Dublin Castle!! 🎄
📍Dublin Castle. Dame St, Dublin 2, Ireland 🇮🇪
🎄🎄CHRISTMAS EDITION !!🎄🎄20/12-21/12
Wandering around the christmas market within the Dublin castle is a wonderful experience🏰. The state apartment has turned into a “Christmas version🥹” apartment which has really impressed and surprised me! 💜 Wonderful Christmas trees with different decos (some with teddy bears🧸), you could still feel the royal vibes all over the entire castle💓.
You can enjoy festive drinks like mulled wine🍷or hot choc🍫 with sugary churros and listen to some Christmas carols🎶 in the middle of the castle . Or even ride the merry-go-round right in the center of the castle 🎠🏰.
⚠️⚠️Most important, FREE ENTRANCE TO THE DUBLIN CASTLE DURING CHRISTMAS !! ⚠️

Dublin - Guinness Storehouse
Quite a nice experience into Dublin centre and visiting the Guinness Storehouse. The place is really popular that there are lots of tourists coming from different countries. It was a self-guided tour that I walked around and got to know different processes in beer making. There’s a tasting room where you get to smell different types of beer and a free tasting of the original Guinness beer.
🍻 Freshly produced Guinness straight from it's Storehouse! 🇮🇪
🇮🇪 When you travel to Dublin and you love beer, make sure the Guinness Storehouse is on your itinerary! 🍻
🚊 You can travel there with bus G1 from Dublin city centre.
Many people hated black beer, saying that it is too bitter and tastes bad - but it just isn't! 🥺 If you try the freshly produced beer from the factory itself during the guided tour, it just taste, so, good!!! 😍
Learning to make black beer from ground up in the guided tour, you'll see how Guinness gained its unique taste and color with its secret recipe! 😉 The ticket also includes a free drink on top of the storehouse, where you can see the panoramic view of Dublin! 📸
Mind you, you can order a Guinness apple cider at the bar, which is not sold outside of the factory! 😮
*⚠️⚠️ Please make sure you meet the age of 18 to be legal to drink any alcohol in Ireland*

Must-do attraction in Dublin
if you’re going to Dublin you absolutely cannot miss the Guinness Storehouse tour. Obviously Dublin is the home of the love it or hate it drink but whichever team you’re on, the storehouse is a great experience. Lots of history to see and you do of course get to sample a pint at the end of your tour.
When I visited there was also an opportunity to have your selfie printed onto the foam of the pint which was a really novel idea!#dublin
Nearby the Temple Bar, St Andrew's Church quick snapped a picture, and continue relax drinking at Bar. Even afternoon there so full inside and with live music songs! Lovely afternoon meal at there #dublin

Howth - an essential day trip
Ireland is full of superb landscapes that make it very clear why its nickname: Emerald Isle. But, if your trip is limited to Dublin, you might think that much-hyped green color is missing. Nothing is further from reality. In addition to the capital's parks, you shouldn't miss out on visiting the small fishing village – well, increasingly more touristy and residential and less fishing – of Howth. A getaway of a few hours that will reconcile you with your idea of the Irish green and almost an essential among the things to see in Dublin.
Put on comfortable shoes and be prepared to do some walking. That was what we did with a nine-kilometre hiking trail –about three hours because the landscapes were well worth stopping constantly to photograph them– that took us from the station to the highest point on the peninsula and back. If you walk less, don't think it's not worth it to get to Howth.

Dublin in a day
Dublin's tourist attractions are located quite close to each other, which allows us to see it in a single day without too much hassle.
A key point of visiting Dublin is the weather. The weather in Dublin is very irregular and changeable. It is not strange that in a matter of an hour you go from the clouds to the sun, leaving the rain or the wind in between. Even in the summer months there is no guarantee of stable weather, so my recommendation is that you take advantage of the sunny moments of the day to, without hesitation, hit the streets and enjoy the places to see in Dublin that are located abroad.
A good place to start our tour of Dublin is O'Connell Street, the widest street in the city. It is not particularly monumental, but it is picturesque and it is a very frequented point in the city, so it is worth walking its little more than 500 meters in which we will see the obelisk of the Monument of Light and the Central Post Office , place where the Republic of Ireland was proclaimed.
Traditionally, neighborhoods north of the River Liffey have a reputation for being humbler and simpler than those to the south, so there isn't much to see around this avenue. Of course, we can always take a walk along the commercial Henry Street, which -without being as elegant as Grafton Street in the south- is the main commercial artery of this part of the city. #ireland #dublin
Gorgeous old school library
Marsh’s Library is the oldest public library in Ireland. Founded in 1707, the library in Dublin holds around 25,000 books and 300 manuscripts. 📚📖 It was also the first public library in Ireland 🙀
Holding many rare, old manuscripts, this library is a must-visit for literary fans! The library still features its original fittings, including seating and shelving. The bookcases are made of quarter-plained Baltic oak with carved lettered gables 😻😻😻 Fans of old-school interior designs will love the beauty of this place 👍🏼
Open to visitors for €5 entry fee!
