As a cultural center, Dresden is known as Florence on the Elbe. The Saxon dynasty was ruled by the powerful August der Starke, and the territory he ruled became the largest in European history, with its Zwinger Palace, rich cultural heritage and splendid art and culture. The magnificent Zwinger Palace was also built during his time and currently houses a number of valuable works of art. The ceramic collection here is particularly noteworthy, as it houses porcelains that were coveted by European princes and nobles, including an astonishing number of porcelains imported from China and Japan. As a way of showing off wealth in the 18th century, Chinese and Japanese porcelain were hung on the most prominent walls of the palace for appreciation. There is also the famous Meissen ceramic crafts, which is said to be the largest in the world. However, there are still some unfinished projects in progress, which will more or less affect the viewing experience of taking photos.

#2024mapped Making a stop at Dresden on my way from Prague to Berlin was one of the wisest decisions I have made. The whole town was under complete destruction after WW2, and a series of reconstruction has turned/restored it into a sheer antique beauty. Not huge (1km radius or so), but it packs a tonne of photogenic perspectives of neoclassical architecture. It constantly took my breath away for my half day visit. I could only regret not able to spend more time here to discover more of the town. Strongly recommend spending one full day to walk around the town. Every corner was photography material.

Taking the train from Erfurt to the ancient city of Dresden made me feel like I had traveled through time and was in Europe in the ancient centuries. This city is so full of history that it is hard to imagine that it was once destroyed in the war, but now it has been miraculously rebuilt so completely, restoring its splendor and elegance. Speaking of travel destinations in Europe, we can easily come up with a list of ten to twenty European cities, but most of our lists would not contain this name: Dresden. Torn and burnt to ashes during WWII, Dresden has since undergone a series of reconstruction, under which I genuinely felt the phoenix has reborn. The entire city area, despite small, had incredibly intricate architecture and decorations. It has a lot of classical/baroque influenced architectural details, to a point it doesn’t feel so much like a typical German city like Cologne/Stuttgart/Munich but England/Paris. Every corner feels like a photography material, but too bad, it was rainy all day during my visit. Winter in Germany is really cold! ❄️ But in Dresden, this coldness is exchanged for the warmest memories. I wander through every corner of this city, feeling the traces of history and the fusion of modernity. Walking into the old town is like entering a fairy tale world, and the colorful buildings make people stop and admire 📸. Especially the famous Dresden Castle, which stands on the top of the mountain, overlooking the whole city, like a kind elder guarding this land. I stood under the castle, looking up at its majestic figure, and a feeling of indescribable emotion surged in my heart. Walking along the Elbe River, the river flows quietly, and the ancient bridges connect the two banks, and every stone seems to tell the story of the past. I seem to be able to hear the whispers of history and feel the passage of time. 🌉 In this city, I also found a super cute dessert shop. The cakes in the store are sweet but not greasy, and every bite is a taste of happiness. 🍰 I sat by the window, tasting the delicious food while watching the world outside the window, feeling that time had stopped. Traveling from Dresden to Berlin in Germany, I woke up early in the morning to catch a cheaper train. When I arrived at the train station, I happened to see the sunrise, which was a pleasant surprise besides saving on the fare. The train station in the morning wasn't too crowded, so it didn't feel scary. Watching the sky gradually brighten with the sunrise along with the train tracks had a unique charm.

The building grand arches, detailed sculptures and impressive designs are the first that grab everyone’s attention. A pity we were not into opera but the interior of the building is just as awesome. To get here, from the main Boracay beach, you have to ride the e-trike going to the port of the speed boats. It was a very quick travel. It only took maybe under a minute to get there.
