Zhuhai Chimelong Ocean Kingdom Travel Notes | The long-awaited guide is finally here.

As a chronic procrastinator 💔, I finally managed to complete my guide to Zhuhai Chimelong Ocean Kingdom this year! 📍Location: Guangdong, Zhuhai 📅 Date: October 2024 Friends who have visited with their kids all gave glowing reviews! Taking advantage of the holiday, I decided to bring my little one, Yu Yuan, to experience it for ourselves. However, my child seemed quite scared of any underwater creatures, perhaps due to her young age (she was only 14 months old at the time). She either demanded to be held or stayed glued to the stroller, refusing to get out, showing little interest overall. Thankfully, I brought a stroller along, or it would have been exhausting for me as a mom. The park isn’t too large, and there aren’t many attractions suitable for toddlers. The main activities involve walking around and observing animals, which can be tiring after a full loop. My child’s reaction was lukewarm, and it felt more like she was accompanying me on a tour. It confirmed my suspicion that this place might not be ideal for very young children. On the first night, we stayed at the Penguin 🐧 Hotel. Personally, if you’re traveling with kids, I’d recommend choosing another hotel. This one seems to exist mainly due to partnerships with travel agencies. The facilities are average, the crowds are overwhelming, and checking in took a whopping 30 minutes of waiting in line. (Apart from its proximity to the park, I can’t think of any other advantages.) The Penguin Restaurant was decent, but it was packed with people. Since it’s a buffet-style setup, getting food while managing a child was inconvenient, and we even had to wait for a table. Most of the dishes were pre-made and heavily seasoned, with few options suitable for toddlers. I’d suggest bringing your own food. There aren’t many specific tips to share, but if you’re traveling with kids, make sure to bring a good stroller, pack plenty of water, and try to visit during the off-season. Some might question the point of taking such a young child on a trip, arguing that she won’t remember it anyway. But I believe it’s not about whether she remembers—it’s about the experience and sensory stimulation. Even if it’s just a way to train and excite her senses, I think it’s worth it. Photos 📷 will preserve these moments for her, and more importantly, I’ll remember them vividly! As a mom 👩🏻, I truly hope my little Yu Yuan, now 20 months old, grows up slowly.
