Cuiheng Village, where Sun Yat-sen, the former Prime Minister, lived

Sun Yat-sen was born on November 12, 1866, in Cuiheng Village, Xiangshan County, Guangzhou Prefecture, Guangdong Province. As a child, he liked to listen to stories about the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom under the big banyan tree in the village. Sun Yat-sen's parents were both farmers, his father was Sun Dacheng, and his mother was Yang. Sun Yat-sen's former residence is a red two-story brick and wood building built by himself in 1892. Since photography is prohibited indoors, a Cuiheng Village residence was built nearby to recreate the living environment of Mr. Sun Yat-sen's childhood.
