A Budget-Friendly Choice Near the High-Speed Rail Station—Zhengzhou Huiyi Courtyard by Marriott

As a modern megacity hub, Zhengzhou was a place I'd passed through multiple times by high-speed rail but never as a final destination. Recently, I truly set foot in Zhengzhou for the first time and stayed at the Zhengzhou Huiyi Courtyard by Marriott. Here’s my review of the stay and nearby attractions. 📍Location: The hotel’s location is quite good, just near the super railway hub Zhengzhou East Station, reachable by taxi in about 3-5 minutes. If you don’t have much luggage, you can also walk to the hotel in around 15 minutes. 🏨Hotel Environment: Adjacent to the shopping mall Haihui Port (see attached photos), dining options are very convenient nearby. Upon entering, the lobby exudes an elegant, minimalist business style, fitting well with the Courtyard by Marriott brand. 🛏Room Facilities: This Courtyard opened in 2015, making it 10 years old now. However, the facilities are well-maintained, and the light-toned rooms show minimal signs of wear. The smallest guest rooms start at 40 square meters, so space is ample. While there’s no swimming pool, the gym is open for normal use. 🍲Dining: The breakfast was quite good, featuring local Henan specialties like spicy soup and fried vegetable dumplings. The omelets were decent too, overall meeting Courtyard standards. The executive lounge is small, so it feels crowded during happy hour. The food was passable, and you could even request noodles 🍜 from the staff—a rare feature for a Courtyard lounge. 🖼Nearby Attractions: As my first real visit to the Central Plains, I made sure to explore the city properly. The Zhengzhou Greenland JW Marriott Hotel in Ruyi Lake Scenic Area is a landmark of Zhengzhou. Lit up at night, it really resembles a "big corn" 🌽[Grin]. A walk around Ruyi Lake during late spring was delightful, with blooming flowers🌸 and great scenery. Zhongyuan Tower isn’t far from the hotel—just a 30-minute subway ride. However, it didn’t seem very popular, and the tower was closed when I visited at night. Henan Museum is about a 30-minute taxi ride from the hotel. One of Zhengzhou’s hottest attractions, it gets very crowded during holidays but is well worth a visit for its many heavyweight cultural relics. Erqi Square and the Erqi Memorial Hall are located in Zhengzhou’s core area, a place of historical significance. A 30-minute subway ride from the hotel, it looks stunning when lit up at night and is a must-visit in Zhengzhou.
