The Zeng Family Mansion: An Ancient Marvel Hidden in the Village

In the vast land of Minnan, many ancient architectural sites remain unknown to the public. Among them, the Zeng Family Mansion in Jiaomei stands out as a lesser-known yet exceptionally elegant and grand traditional house. Built during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Zeng Family Mansion is awe-inspiring with its grandiose structure. Upon entering the mansion, one can see the unique layout of corridors connected by sky bridges. Among the traditional houses I've seen, this undoubtedly qualifies as a true 'mansion.' Surrounding this ancient building, descendants of the Zeng family and a few indigenous residents still live here, adding a touch of human warmth to this tranquil historical site. Due to historical vicissitudes, it was once requisitioned as public housing, a primary school, and a grain depot, before being returned to the Zeng family, enduring a long period of turmoil. Despite the passage of time, the exterior walls of the mansion still retain well-preserved colorful ceramic decorations, and the overall elegant layout continues to reflect its former glory. The entire architectural complex is shaped like a '凹' character, with the ancestral hall as the central axis, symmetrically arranged. The front and rear rows feature Minnan style and Nanyang Gothic style, respectively. This hidden Zeng Family Mansion in the village is undoubtedly a precious ancient architectural gem. It not only witnesses the historical changes of this land but also serves as a cultural heritage worth exploring in detail.
