Zhangjiajie - Tianmen Mountain

I am staying on Yingbin Road, a 4 minute drive from the ticket office, therefore I got a taxi to the site for under 10rmb. I paid 232rmb for a ticket that included entry, a one way shuttle bus journey and a one way cable car journey. The first attraction is the ‘Stairway to Heaven’ that according to ancient beliefs, links Tianmen Cave to the sky. It consists of 999 steps to the top that differ in steepness and gradient as a metaphor to the ups and downs in life. The view at the top is beautiful with a very refreshing breeze! You then take an extremely long escalator up to the top of the mountain. Here you are free to walk around taking the East or West route. I did both and it took about 4 hours. The views are honestly breathtaking. You can also do other things such as walking over the glass floor, taking a sky lift (25rmb) and visiting a traditional temple. The cable car journey home was amazing (it’s the longest cable car journey in the world!!) but the queue was painfully long - I queued for 2 hours. I really enjoyed my day out here but as with most major attractions in China, I would recommend getting there as early as possible to beat the crowds! #naturalwonders #hikingtrails #summervacation
