It gets its name from the white pagoda built in the Yuan Dynasty that stands at the top of the mountain. The pagoda was originally built in the Yuan Dynasty and rebuilt in the 19th year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty (1839). In 1958, the white pagoda was painted red and renamed "Hongta Mountain," and the scenery was replaced by "Red Pagoda Sunrise." Hongta Mountain is divided into "Big Hongta Mountain" and "Small Hongta Mountain." It is not only a landmark of Yuxi but also an important historical and cultural relic.
