Facing the autumn breeze and the pleasant days, I visited the villages and strongholds of Yongtai

New topics are being gathered bit by bit, about the Yongtai strongholds and folk historical documents. Since the end of summer, in addition to attending field workshops with experts, reading materials, and gradually communicating with scholars, we have also reached some mountain villages in Yongtai that we have never set foot in before, capturing images for the strongholds, families, and villages there. The Zhufeng Village in Gaiyang Township is almost the most remote village in Yongtai, located at the junction of Yongtai, Youxi, and Dehua. Every autumn, when the ginkgo leaves turn yellow and spread over the village, many people come here to enjoy the autumn scenery. It is also the harvest season, and the village is drying the newly harvested tea seeds everywhere. Persimmons are also sunbathed in the good weather, and along the way, we are treated to oranges and dried persimmon cakes by the villagers. Our more important destination is the stronghold locally known as 'Zhufeng Zhai,' which is the Qincha Zhai. This stronghold, originally built during the Daoguang period, covered an area of more than 7,000 square meters, and in the second half of the 20th century, more than 300 members of the Xie clan lived within the stronghold.
