After a year and a half of renovation, the Ho-Am Art Museum reopens and presents the exhibition <One Dot of Sky> by Kim Hwan-ki, a leading Korean abstract painter. Samsung Group founder Lee Byung-chul, who founded the Ho-Am Art Museum, was a traditional art enthusiast, and Kim Hwan-ki was a painter who was deeply immersed in nature and tradition, so they chose a Kim Hwan-ki retrospective as the reopening exhibition. This exhibition is the first large-scale exhibition of modern art to be held at the Ho-Am Art Museum, which had previously only held exhibitions of ancient art, and it will display a total of 120 pieces, including not only Kim Hwan-ki's early works but also some of his unpublished relics and materials. In particular, you can appreciate two of Kim Hwan-ki's most famous works, 'Women and Jars' and 'Universe'. 'Universe' was sold for 13.2 billion won at the Hong Kong Christie's auction in 2019, setting a record for the highest price paid for a Korean art auction. The latest interior renovation of the Ho-Am Art Museum was designed to blend in with the existing, unadorned architecture with minimal details. The lobby space, which stands out for its restrained beauty, and the second-floor lounge, which has enlarged windows to allow visitors to enjoy the natural scenery of the four seasons, are the highlights of this renovation.
