Ryukyu Lantern Festival held at Murasaki Mura, Yomitan Village This festival is held every year from December to the end of March. We visited in 2022. The venue, Murasaki Mura, is a theme park that recreates the glamorous streets of the Ryukyu Dynasty in the 14th and 15th centuries. This lantern festival is a popular night event certified as a "Japanese Night View Heritage Historical and Cultural Night View Heritage" and one of the "Three Great Night Views of Okinawa," so it was crowded with many people during this period. The colorful lanterns and lanterns created a very fantastical world. The theme of the main venue seems to change every year. Okinawa's winter is relatively comfortable even at night, so be sure to visit at the right time.
