Sanxi Garden

#YokohamaSightseeing A Japanese garden in Yokohama's Naka Ward After researching its history, I learned that it was built by Hara Sankei, a Yokohama businessman who made his fortune from silk reeling and raw silk from the late Meiji period through the Taisho era. It has been open to the public since 1906, so its history likely dates back to the Meiji period or later. Access by public transportation is about a 20-minute walk from the nearest station (JR Negishi Station), so it's quite a walk. It's easily accessible by bus, but the bus ride is quite long, so it's not very accessible via public transportation. The admission fee, ¥700 for adults and ¥200 for children, seemed a bit pricey at first, but since there are no additional fees for the facilities within the garden, it didn't feel so expensive once inside. The garden itself, in a word, has a stunning landscape. It's so well-maintained that not a single piece of trash is found. The restrooms and rest areas are designed to match the garden's atmosphere and are very elaborately designed. We saw several couples who had come to take wedding photos in traditional Japanese clothing, and I think it's a great spot to take photos in traditional Japanese clothing. There are also many attractions to visit, from small museum-like facilities to historic buildings, so it can take quite a while to see everything. The garden is large and hilly, so walking around the entire grounds is a good way to get some exercise. It's not particularly easy to access, but I think it's a great spot for anyone who wants to visit a tranquil Japanese garden.
