Yixing 2-Day Family Road Trip Guide from Nanjing (1.5h Drive)

Never expected Yixing to be such an underrated gem for family trips! ❤️ With summer vacation here, we wanted to avoid crowded tourist hotspots, so we chose Yixing - just 1.5 hours' drive from Nanjing 🚗. The scenery was breathtaking with green mountains ⛰️, bamboo forests 🌲, and winding streams perfect for creek trekking. Most attractions in Yixing are free - Su Dongpo wasn't lying when he praised this place! ✅Day 1: Longyin Xishan → Dongpo Pavilion → Yangxian Xishan Town ⭕️ Stayed at Longyin Xishan Hotel (located within Xishan Town). July afternoons are scorching 🔥, so we enjoyed the indoor pool 🏊 ⭕️ Cooler evenings 🌆 are perfect for climbing Dongpo Pavilion (hotel shuttle drops you at the base). The 10-minute hike 🧗 leads to Su Dongpo's statue 🗿. The illuminated pavilion at night is spectacular! ⭕️ Dined at the hotel restaurant 🍽️ (their original business was F&B, so many outside guests come too) 🍗 ⭕️ After dinner, stroll through Yangxian Xishan Town's night scenery 🌃 and enjoy the musical fountain ⛲️ - kids were thrilled! 💃 ✅Day 2: Longyin Xishan → Shaodong Village Creek Trekking → Return ⭕️ Woke up naturally, had lunch ⭕️ More pool time 🏊 in the afternoon ⭕️ Shaodong Village Creek Adventure: ✨ Yixing has many creek spots. Fuxijian Bridge and Longshan Village are closest (hotel shuttle available) ✨ We chose slightly farther Shaodong Village - less crowded with crystal-clear water. Bought local peaches 🍑 to enjoy while wading ✨ Bring water guns, floaties 🛟, nets and buckets. Secret tip: You can catch small fish/shrimp 🦐 here - proof of the water's purity! ✨ Forgot gear? Affordable sets available roadside (we got net+bucket 🪣 for just ¥15) ⚠️ Hot tip: On 8/16, the Jiangsu Super Cup (Wuxi vs Xuzhou) will be held in Yixing - Xuzhou residents get free access to paid attractions! 💃 Pro tip: Avoid full-day outdoor activities in summer heat 🌞.
