Wanjin Mountain red leaf hiking is a popular outdoor activity in Yichang during autumn • Best viewing time: The red leaves of Wanjin Mountain mainly consist of Chinese sumac, Chinese tallow, and torchwood. The best time to see the most vibrant red leaves is from late November to the end of December each year, when you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery of colorful forests. • Hiking route: Navigate to Liulin Village Committee, park your car, then hike forward for about ten minutes. Turn right to pass the Hualianpen reservoir, and climb up along the original dirt road to enter the Wanjin Mountain red leaf area. If you have enough time, you can choose the right circular route, which is about 10 kilometers long and takes around 5 hours; alternatively, you can return the same way after reaching the summit, which takes about 3.5 hours including stops for photos. Additionally, you can navigate to Liulin Banshanyuan Courtyard, park for free at the roadside parking lot, then walk 15 minutes along the main road until you see the blue construction site sign on the right to start climbing. • Difficulty level: Wanjin Mountain's elevation does not exceed 400 meters.
