Unique Industrial Style Sugar House Hotel

📍Address: No. 102, Dongling Road, Yangshuo County, Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region This Christmas, while vacationing with my parents at Banyan Tree Yangshuo, we visited the nearby Sugar House Hotel, just a 10-minute drive from Banyan Tree. We enjoyed a delicious creative Western meal and spent a peaceful and wonderful afternoon there. Although we didn't stay at the hotel, it was worth visiting the renowned building and fulfilling our wish to check it out. ⭐️Hotel Design The hotel makes full use of the old sugar factory buildings and mountain landscape built in the 1960s along the Li River. Under the design and renovation by Zhao Chongxin and the architecture team led by Tsinghua graduate Dong Gong, the transformation took 10 years, blending new and old elements. It retains much of the sugar factory's historical imprints, such as prominent slogans and mottled wall bricks, and incorporates modern interpretations of the landscape and countryside, complemented by large tranquil landscape pools, transforming it into a modern luxury resort hotel. The interior design also received a lot of attention, retaining most of the old sugar factory equipment while adding retro-style seating and artworks, creating a harmonious overall effect. ⭐️Hotel Facilities: The hotel has a total of 117 rooms and suites, each with a spacious terrace offering open views of the Karst landscape and the Li River. The only downside is that the guest room area is too close to the busy provincial road, making noise unavoidable. The hotel features a unique restaurant and bar, offering both Chinese and Western cuisine and local specialty beers. The most photogenic spot is the outdoor swimming pool, but unfortunately, it is not heated in winter, so swimming is not possible. There is a gym and a children's activity center next to the pool. ⭐️Hotel Services: 1️⃣ The hotel has strict internal management to ensure the guest experience. Non-guests need to dine inside and verify their group purchase code at the entrance, which can be used in the internal restaurant, ensuring a very quiet environment with few people, making it great for taking photos. 2️⃣ The hotel's restaurant consistently delivers quality food, focusing on creative fusion of Chinese and Western cuisine, and continues to offer Western meals in the afternoon. 3️⃣ The hotel offers a variety of special activities, including traditional sugar-making experiences and rock climbing adventures, in addition to regular bamboo rafting, suitable for young travelers with an adventurous spirit. 4️⃣ Although the original Alila Group has withdrawn, the hotel is now independently operated, and the staff remains professionally trained, welcoming guests with smiles and providing meticulous service, earning a good reputation. 5️⃣ The hotel hosts concerts during holidays, providing cultural exchange and stress-relief activities for travelers coming from the city to the mountains.
