The battle lasted 56 days and ended in victory on May 1, creating a glorious example of using wooden sailing ships to destroy Chiang Kai-shek's army's "three-dimensional defense" by sea, land and air. Xuwen Jiaowei was the starting point for the People's Liberation Army. 799 PLA warriors boarded 13 wooden sailboats and set sail from Dengloujiao to cross the sea, firing the first shot in the liberation of Hainan. The front-line command post of the crossing sea operation is still preserved here, and a crossing sea operation monument and a martyrs' memorial park have been built.
