|Let’s take a look at the official gardens of the Sui Dynasty. Jiangshouju Garden is located on the high wall in the northwest of the city. It was a place for the prefect, his wife and officials of the prefecture to relax and play. It was built in the 16th year of Kaihuang in the Sui Dynasty (596 AD) and has a history of more than 1,400 years. It is the only existing official garden of the Sui Dynasty in China. During the Tang and Song dynasties, many literati such as Cen Shen, Fan Zhongyan, Ouyang Xiu, and Mei Yaochen came here to chant poems and compose essays, leaving behind a large number of famous couplets. Fan Zhongyan, a great politician and writer in the Northern Song Dynasty, praised gardens with the beautiful sentence "The tranquil environment is like a fairyland, and the coldness is dissipated without feeling the heat."
