Xiamen｜Humanistic atmosphere on Gulangyu Island｜Bookstores and architecture

There are several famous check-in spots on Gulangyu Island. The Volume Bookstore is one of the more famous ones. However, a bookstore requires advance reservations and has limited visiting spots. I don’t know whether the definition of “bookstore” is vague here, so I turned and walked into another bookstore, “Wormhole 1876”. It was my first time to really go deep into this place. I could feel every brick and tile of it, and I must have seen a lot of effort put into it by the owner. I learned from the bookstore staff that there is a small exhibition on the second floor called "Love in Gulangyu". Through technological means, those people and events of the old times are once again vividly presented to us. There are European-style buildings everywhere on Gulangyu Island. Thanks to its special geographical location, there were many former sites of foreign embassies on the island. The buildings you pass by everywhere are full of classic architectural beauty. When you go to the church, you will encounter a newlywed couple taking wedding photos. Gulangyu Island must be such a warm island.
