Exploring Fall in Northeast Jiangxi | Huangling Scenic Area in Wuyuan

Huangling, an ancient village covering approximately 5 square kilometers, has a history of over 500 years. It features many well-preserved Hui-style buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Scenic Layout: Huangling is a typical mountain village where residences are arranged in a fan-shaped, terraced pattern around the water entrance. The scenic area combines aerial sightseeing via cable car, ancient village exploration along Sky Street, terraced flower fields, and folk customs experiences. Location: Huangling Scenic Area is located in Shiermian Mountains, 7km southeast of Limuken Village, Jiangwan Town, Wuyuan County, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province. It is 39km from Wuyuan County and about 9km from Jiangwan Highway exit. Main Attractions: As a national 5A-level tourist attraction, main attractions include the autumn sun-dried harvest village, terraced flower fields, Flower Town, Huaxi Water Street, Leixin Bridge, Sky Street, Ice and Snow Hall, and Starry Art Gallery. Terraced Flower Fields: In March, 100,000 acres of terraced fields bloom with golden rapeseed flowers, creating a harmonious scene with distant mountains, nearby waters, white walls, and dark tiles. The village houses in the valley, with their white walls and black tiles, complement the rapeseed flowers, making it look like a painting come to life. Flower Town: Traditional Hui-style buildings follow the mountain contours, with colorful flowers decorating the ancient streets, corners, and windowsills. The "Flower Town" combines flowers and traditional architecture. The main flowering season is from April to August, featuring peach blossoms, pear blossoms, cherry blossoms, bougainvillea, verbena, wisteria, alpine plants, and more. Huaxi Water Street: This commercial and entertainment street features bars, cafes, dessert shops, teahouses, and incense halls arranged at different levels. The street has mist installations for cooling, with scenic elements like stone mills, water hammers, and floating peculiar houses along the slopes. Sky Street: The ancient village follows a layout of "one main street, nine alleys, three bridges, and six wells." The 388m-long Sky Street runs east to west, with nine alleys branching off to different corners of the village. As the commercial hub, it hosts various local businesses including wood carving demonstrations, bamboo crafting, umbrella making, and live painting. Food Culture: The culinary culture is an essential part of Huangling's folk traditions. The "Sky Street Restaurant" serves "Sky Street Farm Feast" using locally hunted, grown, and raised ingredients. The cuisine is based on Hui cooking traditions, Wuyuan food culture, and local customs. The restaurant's wide windows overlook thousands of acres of terraced fields. Visitors can also try local snacks like steamed cake, Qingming fruit, preserved vegetable pork pancakes, tofu pudding, and stinky tofu.
