Wuhan 1h! I found a hidden hiking paradise! Route guide attached

1 hour drive from Wuhan to Xiaohuashan Just got back from scouting Dadingshan! I advise all Wuhan locals to go here and stop wandering aimlessly😭 ❌ Huangpi Dingxiu Valley direction is closed, don’t go there for nothing~ These 3 autumn hiking routes are tested and fun, personally verified with no disappointments! ✅ Family-friendly ・ Reservoir Tea Garden Route (4h easy) ♻️ Route: Wu Jia Chong ➡️ Reservoir ➡️ Xiaci Ruins ➡️ Tea Garden ➡️ Return Difficulty ★☆ ｜ Total 3km ｜ Duration 2-3 hours ｜ No steep slopes Visit Xiaci Tea Garden (over 200 acres), learn about tea picking techniques, suitable for light family outings with elders and kids 🚗 Driving navigation 🧭: Wu Jia Chong ✅ Beginner-friendly ・ Autumn Scenic Loop (5h relaxed walk) ♻️ Route: Dadingshan Village Committee → Wu Jia Chong → Reservoir → Tea Garden → Eagle Beak Rock → Xiaoding → Dadingshan Main Peak → Wangjiatian → Tea Garden → Village Committee Difficulty ★★★ ｜ Total 8km ｜ Duration 5-6h ｜ Elevation gain 400m Check in at Eagle Beak Rock, also see wild persimmon trees Climb the Carp Back, overlooking the reservoir and mountains ⏰ Tips: 1. At the peak fork, be sure to descend left (towards Dawu); the right side towards Huangpi is closed and unmarked 2. Both Xiaoding and Dadingshan peaks require climbing along chains, challenging for families with kids 🚗 Navigation 🧭 Wu Jia Chong / Dadingshan Village Committee, locals are friendly, free parking available! ✅ Advanced difficulty ・ Autumn Crossing Route (8h challenge) ♻️ Route: Huangpi Caidian → Dadingshan Main Peak → Xiaoding → Tiezhaishan direction → Exit at Dawu Jingu Village Difficulty ★★★★ ｜ Total 10km ｜ Duration 7-8h ｜ Elevation gain 410m Experience the “Carp Back” rope climbing section, feel the ruggedness of Wuhan’s Xiaohuashan ⏰ Tips: 1. There are 2 sections with 45°+ rock walls requiring hands and feet; not suitable for those afraid of heights or in rainy weather 2. Bring gloves/ropes for climbing or take a detour 🚗 Navigation 🧭 Huangpi Caidian ✔️ One-day itinerary 08:00 Depart Wuhan (eat a bowl of hot dry noodles) → 09:30 Arrive at Dadingshan Village Committee parking → 10:00 Start hiking → 12:00 Picnic → 15:00 Summit / Check-in → 17:00 Return 🎒 Essential gear list Must bring: non-slip shoes (a must!), non-slip gloves (to protect hands when grabbing ropes), headlamp, trail food (bread/steamed buns/beef jerky/water and snacks), rope (over 30m), windbreaker (it’s windy at the peak), small trash bags ⚠️ Important notes‼️ 1. Don’t go after rain! Rock walls are slippery with fallen leaves; 2. Don’t hike the difficult routes alone, there are mountain goats 🐐! 3. Must return by 17:00 (it gets dark early) 4. There are toilets at the village committee entrance, none on the mountain 🚾 5. No fires allowed on the mountain! 6. No signal at the main peak 7. Remember to take your trash with you
