Wuhan! A Budget Hotel Worth Revisiting!! So Comfortable!!

🏨 Xiangtou Marriott Wuhan Foreword: During my trip to Wuhan, I chose Xiangtou Marriott among several Marriott-affiliated hotels and the Hyatt Regency Optics Valley. A friend mentioned that this hotel boasts high-end hardware, opened in October 2023, and is currently one of the tallest hotels in Wuhan with outstanding views. After checking in, I had many experiences worth sharing. 📍 Location: The hotel is located at No. 219 Zhongbei Road, Wuchang District, in the Xiangtou Building, right by the river. It’s close to Sha Lake, East Lake, and Han Street, with Qingyuzui Metro Station right downstairs, making transportation convenient. It’s also relatively easy to get to Wuhan Station and the airport. 🏘️ Room Type/Layout: This time, I stayed in the Skyscraper Executive Lake View King Room, which is 55㎡. I chose a room facing Sha Lake, the Yangtze River, and the Hankou cityscape on the 46th floor. The room features a long corridor with a walk-in closet, guest area, and bathroom, resembling a small open suite. The guest area has 270-degree floor-to-ceiling windows, offering stunning views at sunset. 🛌 Amenities/Facilities: As a hotel opened in 2023, the hardware is top-notch. Upon entering, the walk-in closet is on the right, and a small sofa and bar counter are on the left, with the first round of minibar items complimentary. The bed faces the floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing you to enjoy the Sha Lake view in the morning. However, the bedding is a bit firm, so the sleep experience was average. The TV doesn’t support screen mirroring but comes with a sound system. The bathroom is spacious, featuring an oversized circular bathtub with a distant view of Hankou Riverside. The public areas incorporate Chu-Han cultural elements. The lobby on the 1st floor draws inspiration from Xiangyang Ancient City, displaying replica artifacts like the "Tiger Seat Bird Stand Drum" and jade-lit "city gates" to create an ancient ambiance. The fitness center is on the 5th floor (requires elevator transfer in the lobby), with a 24-hour gym and a pool featuring large windows for natural light. The Executive Lounge on the 61st floor (requires elevator transfer on the 59th floor) offers 360-degree panoramic views, an outdoor area, and Chu-Han cultural decor, making it great for photos. However, the elevators are a bit slow, and the room had limited tissues (only one box by the sink), requiring frequent replenishment. 🍽 Dining: The Executive Lounge serves afternoon tea and happy hour with a modest but tasty selection, including dishes like braised duck, golden beef, and stir-fried pork with green peppers. There’s also a live station for beef roujiamo and a cocktail bar with five drink options. The breakfast is served at Zhen Kitchen on the 2nd floor, which is less crowded around 9 AM. Though the view is limited (just a glimpse of the river), the Hubei specialties are abundant, featuring items like mianwo (fried dough), yellow wine, and doupi (bean skin). The noodle station offers Xiangyang beef noodles and hot dry noodles, while the egg station serves lobster omelets and eggs Benedict. 💗 Other Tips: Before arrival, the lounge manager called to confirm room preferences (e.g., bathtub) and pillow choices, which were ready upon check-in. The concierge was warm and helpful with luggage, and I received welcome fruits (possibly non-standard) and a pen at checkout. A follow-up call from the lounge came days later, showcasing thoughtful service. The pool at the fitness center is perfect for sunbathing, and the Executive Lounge’s outdoor area is great for photos. The hotel is rich in Chu-Han cultural elements, with Xiangyang Ancient City scenes on the beds and in elevators. There’s also a plan to upgrade to JW Marriott, which is something to look forward to. Summary: Xiangtou Marriott Wuhan stands out with its high-end hardware, unique Chu-Han cultural design, and convenient location. The 270-degree floor-to-ceiling windows, diverse dining options, and attentive service add to the experience. Though there were minor issues like room odor, clogged drains, and slow elevators, it remains a great choice for both leisure and business travelers, especially those who appreciate cultural elements and high-rise views. It’s worth revisiting after the JW upgrade.
