Visit Vienna's Naschmarkt, which is known for its fresh fruits and vegetables, dried goods, and Middle Eastern food. Although it's an outdoor market, it's quite clean and bright. As we wandered around and got hungry, we decided to grab a bite at the Middle Eastern restaurant 'NENI am Naschmarkt' for a market brunch. Middle Eastern food is quite novel. Since we didn't have a reservation, we were seated outdoors, but thankfully there were umbrellas to provide shade. The Jerusalem plate is a very Middle Eastern dish, with ingredients like yogurt, tomatoes, hummus, chicken, and sesame leaves, all wrapped in flatbread. It's like a Middle Eastern burger! NENI am Naschmarkt prides itself on healthy and natural food, offering many vegetarian and light dishes. We ordered the purple rice quinoa, paired with grilled asparagus and beef tomatoes, which was very healthy, delicious, and refreshing. It was our last day in Vienna. With only 2 hours left, we decided to check out the city’s most quirky and most photographed apartment, namely Hundertwasserhaus (Hundertwasser House). This house was built in 1985 and designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, a renowned architect and artist known for “rejecting straight lines” and embracing a mosaic of shapes and colors. The building was Hundertwasser’s first architectural work. It belongs to the city of Vienna (who then rents out the apartments to individuals). As a result, I feel a bit sorry for the real people living there as so many tourists come to “check out” on them every day. Conclusion: This is no ordinary house and it looks way more massive than the photos online. It gets me thinking how does it feel if this is my rental accommodation. This time I specially visited the Hundertwasserhaus to experience first-hand the unique works and design charm of this legendary artist. Mr. Baishui's design philosophy is to "coexist with nature." The exterior walls of this building are covered with colorful tiles, irregular lines, wavy windows, and natural plantings, subtly introducing greenery into the urban space and making it incredibly beautiful. He refused to use straight lines in his designs because he believed that "straight lines are a human invention and there are no straight lines in nature." Because of this, the walls and floors of the building are filled with asymmetrical curves and slopes. Entering the art museum, the geometric design inside is even more refreshing. The eclectic space design will definitely give you a unique visual experience. There is an exhibition area inside the museum, which displays Mr. Baishui's paintings, design sketches and other creative works, fully presenting his art world and design concepts. Walking around the whole building is really hard to put down! 📍DEMEL, Austria I wanted to eat the real Sachertorte! So I went there😚 The main store of "Demel" in Vienna I was debating between Cafe Sacher and Demel, but Demel was more popular among my friends, so I decided to eat here😉 Demel was founded in 1786 and is a long-established cafe with over 200 years of history☕️ It is a purveyor to the Vienna court, and uses the coat of arms of the House of Habsburg as its logo♡ When you enter the entrance, there is a showcase lined with cakes, and a shop is also attached. I was guided up the stairs to the second floor of the cafe☺️ As it is a famous and popular store, there is always a line, and when I visited, I waited for about 30 minutes!! As for the taste of the Sachertorte that I was looking forward to, The apricot jam in the cake was not too sour, and it was easy to eat and delicious!! 🥰💛🧡 It's heavy and the cake is sweet, so it's just right to eat it with the whipped cream that comes with it❣️ We also had an Einspänner, which originated in Austria🤍🤍 Einspänner is coffee with whipped cream on top.
