Hundertwasserhaus: Vienna’s most quirky apartment house

It was our last day in Vienna. With only 2 hours left, we decided to check out the city’s most quirky and most photographed apartment, namely Hundertwasserhaus (Hundertwasser House). This house was built in 1985 and designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, a renowned architect and artist known for “rejecting straight lines” and embracing a mosaic of shapes and colors. The building was Hundertwasser’s first architectural work. It belongs to the city of Vienna (who then rents out the apartments to individuals). As a result, I feel a bit sorry for the real people living there as so many tourists come to “check out” on them every day. Conclusion: This is no ordinary house and it looks way more massive than the photos online. It gets me thinking how does it feel if this is my rental accommodation. Nonetheless, it is amazing to appreciate this expressionist architecture in-person and leave a good memory before leaving the beautiful city of Wien! #viennacity #architecture #artisticexpression
