The First Scene of the City of Water: The Green-Domed Church of San Simeon Piccolo Comes into View

At the end of last month, my friends and I arrived in Venice by train. As soon as we stepped out of Santa Lucia Train Station, the sight before us left us in awe—the green-domed church across the canal gleaming under the sunlight turned out to be the Church of San Simeon Piccolo (Chiesa di San Simeon Piccolo). Standing right by the Grand Canal, it may not be as grand as other landmarks, but it exudes an elegant and solemn presence, quietly guarding the city's entrance. We took several photos by the canal and paused to admire this church, full of classical beauty. Its dome, colonnades, and symmetrical architectural lines all conveyed the harmonious beauty of Venetian architecture. At that moment, we knew our journey through the City of Water had just begun.
