This building is said to have been the residence of the powerful leaders who ruled the Republic of Venice. At one time, Venice was a powerful maritime city that dominated the Mediterranean. Reflecting the power of this mighty city, the leaders here also wielded immense power, and this magnificent palace was built for them to reside in. This building is considered a representative example of Venetian Gothic architecture.
