Our stay at Starfish Varadero, Cuba.

It was a good experience although it’s a hotel in Cuba so do not come with high expectations. The hotel exterior is well maintained, the swimming pools too -although with little or no shade during the day. Also, swimming pools and bars close at 6 PM. The restaurant buffet had some variety of pastry, meats, fruit and Cuban traditional stuff, though it lacked seafood and veggie options. The beach is the big highlight here! Calm and crystal clear sea that’s guaranteed. Check in at lobby was kinda slow, and two of my three rooms were given one hour after what was expected. Staff is generally attentive and friendly though with many young trainees that sometimes feel themselves lost in their duties. Rooms have basic toiletries and not very comfortable for elderly and children as the shower is not separated from the bathtub (careful not to fall as it’s slippery!). Generally, the rooms need repairing and hallway furniture is out of date. Overall, my Cuban family spent a good time here though it would have been fairer if for a cheaper price than purchased considering the improvements it needs. #beachlife #summervacation #travel
