The Gothic Cathedral is the most important religious building in Valencia, with its tower 'el Miguelete' being one of the city's symbols.

It combines various architectural styles, but Gothic is clearly dominant. One of the most beautiful elements inside the cathedral is the Chapel of the Holy Grail (Capilla del Santo Cáliz), also known as the Chapel of the Holy Chalice and the former chapel, featuring a lovely starry dome, images of the Twelve Apostles, and the Coronation of the Virgin. The most revered relic is the Holy Grail or Holy Chalice, a first-century cup believed to have been used by Christ at the Last Supper. The cathedral's exterior is notable for the Puerta del Palau, its oldest entrance, which features Romanesque style with Mudéjar elements, and the Puerta de los Apóstoles (14th century). This is where the Water Tribunal convenes every Thursday at noon. This institution was established by King James I in the Middle Ages: every two years, eight representatives are elected from the irrigation areas around Valencia to form the tribunal, which adjudicates on irrigation matters and the distribution of water from the Turia River. Its proceedings are oral, conducted in Valencian, and its decisions are final. The Water Tribunal still convenes today to uphold justice. In 2009, UNESCO granted it the status of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
