Ushuaia, located at the southernmost tip of the Tierra del Fuego island in Argentina, is considered the southernmost city in the world; there is a railway there, so it is also called the "Train at the End of the World". 🔹In the late 19th century, the Argentine government built a prison in Tierra del Fuego. This place is isolated from the world and it is basically impossible to escape. 🔸The railway was originally built with wooden tracks; in 1909, it was upgraded to steel narrow-gauge tracks and used steam locomotives to pull trains, mainly used to transport prisoners, timber and firewood. At that time, all the people responsible for cutting and transporting wood were prisoners here, so this forest railway train is also called the "prisoner's train." 🔹Until the prison was closed in 1947, the train that was used to transport prisoners was also stopped.
