Castle Howard

Built in 1701, Castle Howard is located on a hill about twenty kilometers northeast of York. A straight road leads visitors from the roadside at the foot of the hill to the entrance of the estate. Although called a castle, it is not a castle in the strict sense, as it was built on the site of a former old castle. The estate is still privately owned, so only part of it is open to the public. It gained fame in recent years due to a celebrity wedding held there, which has made it a popular spot.
