"Matcha Town" - A Quiet Afternoon in Uji

A classic tourist route in the Kansai region - Keihan Nayu Including Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and Uji, these four places are geographically close, and you can easily travel around these four places by taking the JR! Today I would like to introduce: Uji Uji is the hometown of matcha. Although it is not as popular as Kyoto, Osaka and Nara, it occupies an important position in Japanese culture. Uji has two world heritage sites - the one-yuan coin Mami Byodoin Temple and Japan's oldest Uji-Kami Shrine. It is also the stage of the Tale of Genji Uji Jujo. Matcha lovers should not miss Ito Kyuemon and Nakamura Tokichi. Since I visited Uji during Japan’s Golden Week, there was a huge queue at the popular restaurant Nakamura Tokichi, so I felt a bit disappointed that I couldn’t taste the food there that day... But I was also lucky enough to queue up at the nearby Ito Kyuemon, and had the matcha curry udon that I had been craving for! Although the matcha flavor is not strong, the curry aroma is very rich. The set meal also comes with iced matcha to relieve the greasiness, and mini parfaits as dessert after the meal. It is really delicious! Highly recommended! ! After dinner, you can browse the matcha souvenirs in the store. The items there are super good to buy, and the store clerk also gave us discount coupons~ I wandered around the Uji River in the afternoon. Although it was the peak tourist season, the streets of Uji were very quiet. There was a gentle breeze blowing on my face, and there were wisteria flowers blooming on the roadside, which was very beautiful. Occasionally, you can find Uji limited edition capsule toys on the streets. Capsule toy lovers can really come here to dig for treasures! Standing on Uji Bridge, you can see the train on the opposite side passing by Kawakami, which looks just like a scene in an anime! If possible, I would like to live here for retirement...
