Dark history is also part of our heritage - San Sabba Rice Mill in Trieste
If you are looking for a humbling experience of Europe's darker past, San Sabba is an important site to visit in #Trieste.
The former rice factory served as a Nazi concentration camp during WWII. The site has been adapted to a museum and tastefully altered to remind us of the tragic history of the region.
The visit is an opportunity to learn, reflect, and remember.
I highly recommend renting an audio guide for better context.

The Modernist Hotel
We stayed one night in Trieste at The Modernist Hotel. The hotel is in a historic building, but the rooms are chic. Trieste is not a big city, so the hotel is conveniently located - we walked only 15 minutes from the train station. It is also less than a 15 minute walk to the cruise pier, where we needed to depart. Several grocery stores, restaurants, and shops are located around the immediate area.

Unity of Italy Square 🗺️
#timetotravel
The Unity of Italy Square, also known as Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia, is an awe-inspiring masterpiece located in Trieste, Italy. As I stood in this grand square, I was struck by its sheer size and breathtaking beauty.
The square faces the Adriatic Sea, offering stunning views of the water and the surrounding architecture. It's a place that exudes a sense of history and unity, with majestic buildings lining its sides.
The most iconic feature of the square is the stunning Town Hall, a magnificent neoclassical building that adds to the grandeur of the space. Surrounding cafes and restaurants provide the perfect vantage points for people-watching and savoring Italian cuisine.
Visiting the Unity of Italy Square is a must for anyone exploring Trieste. It's a place that evokes a sense of national pride and leaves you with a deep appreciation for the city's rich heritage and stunning vistas. #trieste #italy

Trieste is often forgotten as tourists head off to the big Italian cities like Rome and Milan and it is a very charming and underestimated city. Well worth a visit.

The most beautiful accident Trieste
Trieste in the northwest corner of Italy is an unexpected attraction outside the itinerary. Bordering Slovenia, it is estimated that 99% of tourists to Italy will not go to this forgotten corner. Affected by the cultural traffic of many countries, it has long been a different temperament and style.
Because I set the train to Venice at 1 o'clock, the hotel Goopti arrived at 8 o'clock in the morning and arrived at Triste at 9 o'clock. So we simply put our luggage at the train station and use two or three trains. Just a few hours to visit this small town on the border of Italy.
Realization did not do the Raiders at all, just listening to the netizens saying that it is a place worth walking. Unfortunately, it is also a rainy day, even the dogs are falling into the soup.

Costal city in Italy 🇮🇹
#summerdestinations
I just returned from a summer trip to Trieste, and it exceeded all my expectations! This coastal city in Italy is a hidden gem with its unique blend of Italian, Austrian, and Slavic influences. I started with the grand Miramare Castle, set on a cliff overlooking the Adriatic. The €10 entrance fee was worth it for the stunning views and beautiful gardens.
Next, I explored Piazza Unità d'Italia, one of Europe’s largest squares, surrounded by impressive buildings and lively cafes. A visit to the historic Teatro Romano, with a €5 ticket, gave me a glimpse into Trieste’s Roman past. Don’t miss the Caffè San Marco for a coffee break—it’s an iconic spot with a rich literary history.
Trieste’s charm lies in its mix of cultures and history, making it a fantastic summer destination. ☕🏰 #trip #Trieste #AdriaticCharm #HistoricalWonders #ItalianGetaway #HiddenGem

Tenda Rossa, best fish Restaurant in Trieste
Incredible dinner in Trieste (north Italy), Tenda Rossa restaurant. In 2024 the best Restaurant if you wanna eat fish there. The view is amazing. The fish is fresh and tasty. Really good the linguine con le vongole (pasta with clams) and especially spaghetti all’ aragosta (pasta with lobster). The list of Italian wine is also good. We have chosen Pinot Grigio from Collavini, always good choice.

Italy is a powerhouse when it comes to holiday destinations. But Trieste is somewhat overlooked city in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and I find it absolutely worth going to. History is one of my interests and I always read up on places before visiting them.
In the case of Trieste, it has been part of the Austrian Empire, Italy, and for a short bit even an independent state. So that already gave me clues.
Trieste's biggest sight to understand the Roman influences is the Roman Amphitheater, which largely remains standing and can help visitors understand how people would sit and where the stage was. Walking through some small streets, they'll encounter the Arco di Riccardo, an arc built in 33 B.C. that is still standing. The arc is near a small square full of bars, so pop in for a drink or two after exploring the ruins.
Trieste has a small town feel, blessed with both the sea and forests. It has trails where one can lose themselves. The town sits under a long karstic mountain ridge along the Italian and Slovenian border, so many parks to exist. This hidden gem won't disappoint you.

Caffe San Marco in Trieste, Italy, is a true gem for coffee lovers. It is one of the historic cafes here. As soon as you step inside, you are transported back in time to the early 20th century, with its elegant decor and vintage charm. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee.
Speaking of coffee, Caffe San Marco certainly doesn't disappoint. The baristas are skilled and passionate, serving up some of the best coffee in town. The coffee is expertly brewed, with a smooth and well-balanced taste that will satisfy even the most discerning palate. The pastries are also delicious and pairs excellently with the coffee.
But Caffe San Marco is more than just a coffee shop. It is also a cultural hub, with a rich history of hosting famous writers and intellectuals. The walls are adorned with photographs and memorabilia, adding to the unique atmosphere. It's no wonder that this place has become a favorite spot for artists and intellectuals to gather and exchange ideas. There is a bookstore in the cafe, adding a unique vibe to this must-visit cafe.

Northern Italian Port City
Trieste is a beautiful small town in northern Italy. We took a two-hour train ride here from Venice. Remnants of the Roman Empire and Venetian Empire can be seen all around the city. The city can easily be explored on foot in a day. Because Trieste is a port city, it has a rich trade and maritime history. We saw many statues and historical buildings along the water. The Piazza Unita d’Italia is also near the port and is an important square in the city. There are historic cafes and restaurants surrounding the square, and we enjoyed a nice dinner at the Caffe degli Specchi.

Trieste doesn’t disappoint
Trieste has been on my visit list for a long time and this Citta del Cafe does not disappoint. A bit Venetian, a bit Austrian, very residential, some roman and medieval history, a Castle, set on the Adriatic it is one of the nicest places I have ever visited in Italy.
Small, compact but on a hillside, use the Hop Tour bus to orient yourself and the spend the rest of the with an Aperol Spritz enjoying the café culture.

Small walkable city with plenty things to do
I spent 2 nights in Trieste. It is a city rich in history and culture. One will not get bored here with plenty of stuffs to do. i love the architectures and the Roman theatre ruins. The sunset is beautiful to watch. You can have a dip if you wish to. The old town is amazing! Trieste is about 2hrs train ride from Venice. It maybe a small town but very enjoyable to explore. And if you don't fancy crowds, this is a perfect place. This place maybe a little tone down than Venice. Advice not to skip it.

Westin Singapore Titanium Run!
My real first attempt at clocking nights for Titanium. Hotelux further sweetened the deal and in the end we had $400 to spend for a 3N stay costing $600++. I don’t mind this problem at all! 🤣 The room was great, service was great, food was great - Westin Singapore is indeed a lovely property to clock your nights in. Seems forever until it open again for leisure stays but when it does, I’m coming back ❤️
