Dunham Massey – The Deer Park Near Manchester

#manchestertrips Such a beautiful and magical place! Visiting Dunham Massey felt like stepping into a scene from The Wizard of Oz — full of greenery, calm paths, and the joy of spotting deer. Green Escapes & Gentle Wildlife I went in early July and it was the perfect time. The park is located around 20–25 minutes by car from Manchester city centre (I took a ride from the tower area, cost about £20+). It’s a great weekend getaway spot for a peaceful walk in nature. You’ll find deer grazing right near the main mansion entrance, but if you venture deeper into the park, you’ll spot more hidden groups in the woods and meadows. It feels like a treasure hunt! Tips for Visiting: • No booking needed – just show up! • Walking time: About 2 hours to enjoy the whole grounds. • Closing time: Around 5:15 PM, so plan to go earlier in the day. • Address/Postcode: Woodhouse Lane, Altrincham, WA14 4SJ • If you’re taking a taxi or using navigation apps, search for: “National Trust – Dunham Massey” to avoid getting sent to the wrong entrance. A peaceful, nature-filled escape not far from the city — definitely worth a visit, especially if you love animals and long walks!
