Toruń Castle was once an important long-term fortress of the Knights, but in 1454, the people living in Toruń launched an uprising against the Teutonic Knights' power in this land and demolished the castle. After the damage caused, the castle area was rebuilt. When Swedish troops attacked the city in the 17th century, the people of Toruń built a fortress around it. Two centuries later, under the leadership of the Prussians, in 1872, the city was surrounded by a wall with an inner city, an outer city and large-scale fortifications. It is still one of the most complete ancient city walls preserved in Poland. Today, most of the castle is just ruins, with the cellar and some towers remaining relatively intact, and tickets are available to enter and visit. Now, in addition to the exhibition space for tourists to visit, the castle sometimes hosts concerts or tournaments.
