Jingyi Hall in Shishe Village, Tonglu, Zhejiang

Jingyi Hall is located on the west side of the old street in Shishe Village. Residents say it has a history of over 200 years. The building faces east and covers an area of 473 square meters. It's a brick and wood structure, with a double-sloped hard mountain roof, and a five-room, two-entrance, three-section layout. Above the main gate, there are paintings of the gate's beam structure. Behind the gate is a large, square courtyard paved with bluestone slabs. The side rooms flanking the courtyard have three pillars and five purlins, with double-sloped hard mountain roofs. The first entrance has five bays, with double steps in the central bay. The secondary rooms have five pillars and nine purlins, with thick pillars and heavy beams. The rear courtyard is the same size as the front courtyard, with side rooms having two pillars and five purlins, and double-sloped hard mountain roofs. The second entrance has five rooms, with three pillars and seven purlins. Except for some insect damage and mildew on parts of the structure, the building is relatively well-preserved, and some painted murals can still be seen on the interior walls. In recent years, residents have gradually moved to new homes or left for work elsewhere, and the house has been neglected. The few elderly residents who remain are unable to repair it. The once spacious halls of the first entrance are now piled with debris and firewood, and the environment is deteriorating. The rear courtyard has become a place for raising chickens. If measures are not taken, this excellent building will face the risk of further damage. It is one of the key provincial cultural relics in the Shishe ancient architectural complex.
