#summervacay After visiting Batak Museum, I had a great cold coconut Jsut at the cafe an outside the museum. The wooden hub seatings here are very cooling and using the traditional woody ceiling to quickly disperse heat. The coconut here is 20000IDR and I enjoy the beauty of the Batak Village and admire their architecture. After sipping this quenching coconut juice, we will head to next destination.

When visiting Lake Toba in Medan, do not miss out visiting the Batak tribe in Tomok village as this village is rich in heritage and culture. Take a ferry to the samosir island and you will find the tomok village in the midst of tomok market selling many shirts and items. Although it has become rather touristy, Batak tribe people still stay in these elaborated uniquely shaped houses (which is why you cannot enter the houses). These houses are called rumah bolon and can house 5-6 families! Over here, you can try dressing up as a Batak, learn their dances and also visit the Batak museum. #travelanywhere

#indonesiatrip We went by scooter from Tuktuk - not well signposted so had to ask directions, showing a photo. We expected a much larger statue from the tourist brochures. Worth stopping in if you in the area but little to see in the tomb area. There is the Batak museum nearby and several souvenir shops in the alleys around. We were early morning 9am so were the only visitors.
