[Chita Journey] Tokoname Yaki Yamatane Painting Experience

If you go to Tokoname, I recommend trying out a pottery experience at Yamatane. The pottery experience involved making pottery on a potter's wheel and painting pottery. You can paint mugs, coasters, or maneki-neko (beckoning cats). It's best to make a reservation beforehand. The Beginnings of Yamatane Yamatane was founded in 1914 (Taisho 3). The company established the pottery factory "Yamatane" in what is now Okujo, Tokoname City. Initially, they worked as "dough makers" making clay pipes. The clay is cut into wooden molds, shaped, and dried. They handled the process before delivering the pottery to the kiln, which had the firing furnace. The clay pipes were apparently used for sewer pipes, etc. The current large store opened in 1989. It was crowded with tourists visiting the Chita Peninsula by tour bus. Around 1999, they started to focus on selling "beckoning cats" as the store's signature product, and they sell original products and goods related to the gentle-smiling beckoning cat, as well as hold workshops and other experiences.
