Making your own tea in Georgia

Well, I can’t say I ever gave it a deep thought but Im an avid tea drinker and was happy when my friends invited me to visit a rather new tea factory in Imeretia region of Georgia, not far from Kutaisi city. Zemo Tea Gardens is a new hip place and there it is possible not only to taste and buy teas produced by them but also participate in tea making process and leave with your own, made by you tea! Everything started at the tea plantation, where I was given a woven basket and explained how to properly collect tea leaves. After a few hours of collecting the tea, we went back to the factory where we were explained the entire process of processing tea leaves, differences between different types of teas and their production, and more fun and useful information. There are quite a few stages to make tea and it took till sunset to finish the process. in the end my friends and I each were left with a bag of made by our hands green tea. This was an absolutely unique experience, I honestly never thought I’ll be ever making tea myself.it was really fun and interesting, educative and not boring. The tea came out really nice for the first timers. Of course it cannot compare with the original teas made by the professionals of the Zemo Tea Gardens factory but it is surely nicer than anything we can buy in a regular supermarket.
